Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Are the forum mods in need for funding or is it a super troll?
This is the doing of Meredith, muffins now this...

Looks like Meredith running out of funds, or something.
Will try to find another strategy to bring down costs. This shouldn't be needed.

It's not hosting, I have a $100 ish domain bill in December to pay. And since I can't run ads this is the only way to monetise the site.

It's not right for you to pay $100 because of the admins negligence towards the community. :/
"can't run ads"
then what's this popup doing here? *points at large, colorful box of advertisement at the bottom of every page*
Also, alex, the people who run EE have nothing to do with this place. Meredith owns the place.

The donate information in the announcement box keeps getting deleted and put back?

I know that this is a fan forum and isn't paid for by the admins, but it doesn't feel right that the admins don't pay themselves for somewhere where their game's community can share it's ideas and contribute on the latest EE information.

I removed the forum announcement because I didn't know if it was for real.
I had no notice of it beforehand, which is pretty bad for administration, obviously.

Not at all, this is a fan forum and Chris as well as MrShoe have stressed this very hard, to make it very clear.
Clearly they do care about the forum, however I do not think they are in a position where they can pro-actively dish out funding for a rather small forum.

I suppose they can't fund a forum that only has
50 active users

I don't see it?
I believe it's caused by this:
<iframe src="http://blockingblocks.comze.com" name="frame1" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" align="center" height="90px" width="728px"> </iframe>
Although maybe not because the popup's height is a lot taller than 90px.
Why is there even an iframe to a website that's been dead for longer than this forum's been alive in the first place?

Out of curiosity, why you can't run ads? If you have any ideas or ways of advertising the forum or run ads on other sites pm me, I'm willing to do it and help. I expect no services in change.

I'm wondering about this as well. You had ads on here before and raised a portion of the bill.

Google deemed that the site was not good enough for advertising after a short period thus cutting all adverts.
Donations was the only way I could think of to monetise the site.
What'd they say was wrong with us? Or did they just give you that incredibly descriptive "not good enough"?

Yeah that used something on the lines of that, said they couldn't explain further due to their secret algorithm of detecting sites.
i guess it might be because someone asked the people to click on the advertisement, which is against google's tos..
also i think that whole donation process could have been made better, predefined ranks & colors. now it's kinda confusing and fresh people who see this forum the first time will be (at least i think so) pretty confused and maybe even scared away.
getting donations for this purpose is N O T wrong. BUT i kinda dislike the, in my eyes, unorganized progress there. also you really should put your own tos in terms of donating up, if you don't want to have problems with a angry mother etc. just sayin..
EDIT: made the "not" better to read.

Mylo, a donation is completly free move. I donated a bit for a reason and in exchange I was marked as one of the few who donated - to help with Meredith's bill.
I donated to help - not to get the damn rank or color.
No need for predefined ranks and colors.
Hi.

I know most people do so to help the forum and that's totally ok. i never wanted to say something against that. but i dislike the now (thanks to this way of handling donations) completely unorganized rank / color system.

The only argument against this seems like the classic, someone has better things so they must be a better person. Donations are optional, whatever the reason a person donates, we are still the same forumers as everyone else. It's not like P2P moderator status. Deal with it
