I think he means they should try out sex before rejecting it. But sex is something you want before you've tried it, so this logic does not make sense.

I'd go as far to say most asexual people have experienced intercourse at some point, but aren't particularly interested in it.

Indifference plays its part, but if you don't regularly engage in intercourse for pleasure and aren't influenced by strong desires (lust), then you'll typically find yourself discouraged by impure affairs.

There's nothing wrong with being an asexual virgin however, society needn't encourage more human procreation at this point.
