Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I would sign up in that petition, it looks pretty horrible.

why do you keep on saying scrubs. i know it's part of your le ironic trolling but it's really stupid

why do you keep using forced memes from reddit and 4chan?
I don't think it really matters. Those that have a serious issue against it, *ahem* fdoou *ahem* are being purely fallacious.
Didn't your mom ever tell you that talking like this sounds pretentious? Who uses words like fallacious in everyday conversation
And what is with everybody changing their name anyway lmao

No, this will not be changed. They ensure that a consistent identity is maintained.

They're 100% useless, and looks kinda stupid.

Let's say Onjit's "formerly:" got removed and he also changed his avatar. Would you even know who he was?
10 years and still awkward. Keep it up, baby!

Yes, in the way he acts.

No, you wouldn't. Not enough information comes through a handful of characters to be able to identify a person. If it was video chat or at least voice chat, you could tell who someone was without a username, but text is not enough unless they've got something really defining about their words. Like if they only wrote using Ye Olde English or 1337 5|*34|<.

I think its good to have it there because now that I have changed my name to become cool, like everyone else, people will still know who I am

One of the main reasons I don't petition against this, is because I don't want users to think my IGN is different from my forums name. Especially since, this forum is open for the public so any willing new player can sign up for an account. Therefore I think it's important to have at least some sort of connection between who you are here and in game, in order to prevent miscommunication.
@Pyro: I don't think we can be friends anymore ;_;

I personally find it strange that all these people with seemingly fine names go on and change them. I once knew them by their names, but they have changed. Sometimes, the old username is even better than the new one (especially Megatron and ILoveBacon), and feels really awkward going by their new name. I do not really want to go out pointing fingers, but still...

'consistent' is the important part. If your identity is not consistent it can cause confusion.

Changing your username to something else and not having a 'Formerly:' is not having a consistent identity. You're suddenly someone else, without any indication of what your name was before. This make it hard for people to identify you because they are used to your old username and may not recognise you anymore. So I don't see what you mean by 'But it is'.

I use this name for 8 months, who's active know who i am by far, this is being a consistent identity. If without formerly nobody gets confused, then there's no use.

I'm not talking about a person who has used 'Formerly:' for 8 months. I'm talking about a person who changes their name and never has a 'Formerly:'.
