Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Polishing the Factory Pack!

So now that the Factory Pack has been out for a couple of days, I've been able to gauge your responses pretty well, I'd say. Even though most of them are very positive, some of them have been concerning the "lack of EE cartoon" style so I figured that I could make this topic so that you guys can help me out in fine-tuning this pack so that you will be more satisfied with it!

This is the progress I've made so far:

Upper: Original
Lower: Polished

If you can't see much of a difference, that's because I've so far only made som basic fine-tuning. It will be the community's voice that matters right now.

Basically, you guys will come with criticism and I'll see what I can do to polish it even further. So fire away! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

Yeah, I kind of agree. Any ideas on how I can improve them?

On the second last one maybe make it darker around the gaps/lines to give it more of a border. With the last one i think maybe removing the noise/dots and make it more smoother. I'm not sure if they would work but its worth giving a shot.

Re: Polishing the Factory Pack!

I can't tell, is that normal shadow-highlight patten there? Maybe not as many shadows. Idk, I'd just try experimenting with shadows, highlights, and maybe some color changes. But they look great any way you do them

No, I think the old ones are fine. There is nothing wrong with the original factory pack

That's the tricky part about being a graphics designer in a very active online game: Divided opinions everwhere. :/

Decreased the amount of noise to give it a much smoother look.

Pretty much the same thing here except with slightly stronger shadows.

Yeah, I'm kind of torn on the last one as well. I'm however liking the noise reduction on the grey block.

Re: Polishing the Factory Pack!

Like the noise reduction. Makes it look smoother and more like it belongs in a factory. So are you adding these to the game as you edit them, or are you waiting until everyone agrees until you update?

I'm pretty sure I'll add all of the polished ones the next update that will hopefully show up today. Not too sure yet though.

Re: Polishing the Factory Pack!

IMO, the second to last one (light brown) looks better as the original.

How about setting up a poll to vote on in the EE blog. That would work perfectly.

Re: Polishing the Factory Pack!

I'm think that I'll update the factory pack tonight with all the changes except the second to last block which I'll only do some minor corrections to in terms of noise and sharpness.

Once they're up live, feel free to come back here and post your opinions. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile
