Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

To properly crop something, there should be a selection tool. Highlight what you want and hit the crop button on the top toolbar.
Love the smileys, and I like how you put your graphics directly into an EE screenshot, gives the illusion it is real.
Suggestions: Paper bricks, glazed/ polished bricks, skeleton smiley, autumn stuff...

Just make a pic of that then Paint and then change it just easy to edit
If you want to crop it more efficiently, you can use the selection tool to select the part you want, drag it to the top left, then crop it like you know how to. Hope that helps!
Use png please?
Good effort ! Keep up the good work ! ;D
Its good, but it needs to be saved in a PNG format. Plus, get a program called Paint.NET, it lets you crop your image to a selection. You highlight your image, and then press "Crop To Image" and KAZAM! You have a fine picture. But again, the graphics are great!
