I use Paint.NET for my graphcs, to make them, I start out with an idea.
ex: A smooth sand green brick would be cool.
I then make a basic outline on Paint.NET, using a 16X16 pixel grid. Starting simple.

After that, I do the shading/ texture, which is long and sometimes difficult.
ex:
I go back and touch it up, adding highlights, and exagerating texture.

I also make sure it looks good when put together.

If I want to make it animated, then I make multiple slides and link them togther using Beneton Movie GIF.

Overall a moderatly complicated process, If you have any more questions PM me.
EDIT: Very soon I'm publishing my revamped package! It's worth anticipating.

Today I decided to make the laboratory lasers a hazard...
They vaporize you.
Those lasers look great! They remind me of an old sci-fi platform game...
Anyways, I made a desert package with an assortment of cacti, some dusty sand, and quicksand that serves as a hazard, so watch your step!

But, put dying-animation for this quicksand.
Well, we actually already have sand. Although the quicksand is good, has been suggested in Ideas for Hazards, the Cacti and other was suggested some time ago on Kong. No dying animation. If you touch quicksand, you don't die. You sink, and die when you suffocate.
Kwl i'd give it a 8/10.

I touched up the texture on carpet package, and decided to take a vote for whether or not I should replace my older carpet. It will be 1st to three.

Old seemed more natural IMO. I like it a little more.
