Since I have barely any time to do any designing, and doubt I will have time for quite a while, I will use this thread to hand out ideas I have but don't have the time to implement to anybody who wants to use them. Check back here regularly as I will keep updating as brilliant/stupid ideas occur to me.
Idea 1: "The Devil has your soul" . . . get it back!
Start out next to a house at the very top with a coindoor, 1 coin needed, and a win sign inside. Go down through the 7 levels of hell (Dante-style) to get to Satan chomping away at Cain. Coin on top of his head. After that, player has to climb back up to top (design so that the player can't easily get back). Player wins when he/she gets back to the start with soul in tow.
Idea 2: Arrow map
Build entire map out of arrows, using arrows where necessary to create pits, rooms, or whatever other nonsense you want to make. Not for designers who are afraid of player hatred.
Idea 3: Big spinny whirlpool
Make a giant spinning whirlpool in the center of the map, start at the bottom in a boat that is about to be sucked into the abyss. Player has to climb out on logs and wreckage and rocks and walruses and other random things that are getting sucked into the whirlpool.
Somebody make that, it would be totally awesome.
Idea 4: Some sort of scary, horror themed map. Mostly just black, but heres where it gets creepy. You can use combinations of oldblack in the map to make "holes" in the map, in specific shapes. Then you can set up blocks with colors mixed in with black so that as you run through the level, once in a while the holes in the map fill with color in such a way that it says "kill" and other creepy words. I'm quite certain it would work, although not everybody would get it since they wouldn't have the map on.
Idea 5: Waterfall adventure
Have an ocean at the bottom, and an elevator along a steel "shaft" on the edge to take players to the top. At the top is a cliff with a river running along it. Arrows carry players along the river to a waterfall made of inverse blue keyblocks (so players fall through it). Depending on where they fall, they hit more hanging islands with rivers flowing in different directions, and further waterfalls. Players can also land on airships, or climb up underneath cliffs to get to hanging buildings and other little secret areas. Coin in each little area. Focus is on exploring and enjoying the scenery, although you can put a coin door to a final secret if players gather all coins.

Ideas 1-4 are great. I'll have a go at them one at a time
I might go towards the whirlpool one.
Idea number 2 is up on my to-do list.

I'm trying to make a heavily modified version of #1.
