Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

So i finally managed to energize a massive world and i always wanted to document my mapmaping process somehow. This forum seems appropriate and maybe you can give me good ideas or learn something from all that.
To make all that a bit more entertaining why not add a storyline, i will blatantly use clichees so be warned... here it goes.
Escape from the Laboratory
You wake up and you don't know who or where you are.
lol amnesia-angle... cmon serious now...
All you see is the grey of a small cell and light from what looks to be an energy field.
Through the field you see a person that seems to guard you and who knows how many more
1 hour later you hear an electronic buzz, as if a big source of power just went off.
The field that was seperating your cell from the bigger room is inactive and and you are free to escape.
There is still a hole that's keeping you from reaching the big room but with your catlike reflexes you manage to make the jump without slipping from the ledge and falling into the green goo.
You see something shining near the giant lamp and collect it without even knowing why, you mumble to yourself: "this seems important".
After bouncing your head from jumping over a huge create and hitting the lamp you think that it's strange that the light is still on.
In the next room you see some kind of pink energyfield that is moving like a conveyor belt.
You think: "What is this place and what is behind the small hole that's there in the wall?"
It seems there is a lot more to come.
Designtalk
If you played one of my maps then you know that i love to use landscapes for my platforming. You've seen: Jungle, Green Hills, The Sea, Beaches, Mountains, Clouds, Hell. These are all easy to do and look great on the minimap.
But i knew that i needed more so i came up with some interesting concepts that ultimately will define this new map

it's the magic of 8bit

I saw someone drawing a dragon in an art world and developed that platform style from it.
it does look good, but i don't know what it's going to be either yet. Some sort of alien flowerlandscape... we'll cross that bridge when we reach it, if i use it at all ^^
Very very cool
I love how you are able to do such detail with such a small space

the best compliment for pixel art ^^
actually the brain does most of the work filling the gaps. I just give the imagination a kickstart with colorthemes and pixelstyles :>
i'm on the fence how i build on. Either i turn around and build to the left or i have a little intermission where you go back to the left to start the next left-to-right stage in another theme. hmmm
I'm on your level right now, I've been on it for well over an hour.
I LOVE IT! nice idea
haha, on the level you wrote bong and you took away the ng and put ss, so it said boss.
Nice! I bet I can't beat your pixel art.

Anyway, the art is very good. I'll have to play it when it'll be finish'd.

i love small worlds and actually played it back in 2009. Pixel-landscaping is so intuitive and fun. good to hear you like it

that whole stage seems crazy now that i retested it, or rather tried to retest... impossible. big thanks for helping me test all that, at least we know it does work somehow.
Tis' fun.
you better test that new part
tested the new spike stuff, real good, i had pretty much given up on that part with the arrows pointing in on both sides, then i got lucky and shot out over the top, then the rest just took my a bit, and finished, there was some guy there named shortstack

Hey tokebot, can I help you make this level?
no, i'm not the creator of small worlds. But great minds think alike *cough*
Hey tokebot, can I help you make this level?
You can help by testing and being on at the right times, when i'm building new challenges.
Need a challenge? Here you go.
Cool Level idea. Nice work, son.
Edit: Is this possible:
