Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

The Metroid world is pretty much complete, and Broken Dreams is on hold until I get more coin blocks.
I started building a lakeside world with cabins, and then I slowly realized I was creating Silent Hill / Alan Wake, so this map is inspired by those worlds. Like Metroid, it's a coin-hunt adventure. Unlike Metroid, it's an organic world; not a blocky, rectangular maze of rooms.
The focus was making the actual world look good, and not caring what the mini-map looks like.

About the world:
This is a ghost town. Most of the old residents abandoned the town years ago for unknown reasons. Everyone who stayed behind is dead. You're in the world to try to figure out why. You'll have to get through three houses, a cave, a wrecked boat, a pitch black cavern, a hospital, and a prison.
The houses are abandoned and in disrepair. The residents who stayed behind suffered increasing levels of mental illness as time passed.
The hospital overlooking the lake was a beacon of the community, but was scandalized by rumors of doctors experimenting on patients.
The lake used to be peaceful, but over time the water level has decreased, making the waters unsafe due to the jagged rocks underneath.
The prison was built into the side of a cliff overlooking the lake, long before the town was founded. However, a landslide completely buried the entire building. No attempt was made to uncover the prison or rescue the people inside. Few government officials will acknowledge that the jail ever existed, and the few civilians who knew about the prison were bribed or threatened to keep quiet. Over time the prison was forgotten, and people built homes on top of where the prison was buried.

The world and its story are still evolving. Again, my focus is on making the world look good while playing it; I truly don't care what the mini map looks like.
Also, thanks to Tesla for the awesome help in building the prison.
Great lvl like the art.
Great job. I think highly of your level.
Like you implied, the minimap art is kind of dull, but the real art is in the actual level. In fact, it looks really good while you're playing it, because of all the details. I especially like the dead bodies. I never played Silent Hill, so I really don't know how much of a 1:1 replica this is, but from my perspective it looks really nice.

Creepy world, but cool
I beat Supadorf24 too in finishing it!

My computer was really laggy. It's seen better days. It's actually in two pieces right now.

Thanks. It's really not a replica because there's no way to convey the 3D world of Silent Hill, so it's just elements from the game.
I think that players spend way too much time on making sure that the mini map looks good. They'll even make the real world look uglier if it helps the mini map. This is the opposite of what we should be doing.

Edit: I spun this last paragraph off into a general discussion topic.
