Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Shading

Can you give me feedback on the shading of the gears, say if anything looks weird or anything like that. Since im not good at shading, I can't find anything wrong with it. So I wanna be sure it looks okay. Well I can say a thing about the level to while im at it. You see in this level you will be swallowed by a giant mechanic whale and then you will have to escape through his blowhole.

Re: Shading

I'm sorry, but this made my day. Upload the picture first...
Try:

Copy the link of that picture, THEN post.

EDIT: Always welcome to help. 1smile1
However, I'm not the kind of person that has any art ability, so I can't exactly help with the actual question...

Obligatory piece of text placed here forcing you to load an extra 100 bytes of data per post I make.

Re: Shading

Oturan, did you plan your design or did you just have a vague idea? I can make a blueprint for you if you want.

Re: Shading

I like the shading. It has a nice look to it. Maybe not be accurate if you are trying to go for realistic but it is very cartoon-y.

Re: Shading

I really dont have a plan, I just did something that I felt like, since I dont really like blue prints, but if you could make one it would be great. I would be really grateful

Do you have an available Great World? Its really hard to draw a good whale in a 200 x 200.

If you don't I still have a good design idea.

Re: Shading

Yeah I have a great world but I thought of using that for another thing, but I can wait with that. It's to hard for me right now anyway

Story: You out going fishing. All of a sudden A giant mechanical whale shoots out of the water and engulfs your ship. With no way out you decide to investigate the mecha. You find out that it guards a secret nuclear facility that is part of a secret's faction's plan for world domination.

Time to Enter Area .51..........................To be continued?

Tell me if you'd rather use a 400x200.

Re: Shading

Try shading with this pallatte, replacing the blue lights with beta gray if you have beta.

Re: Shading

Chimi wtf, and also to the rest of the beta people. BETA GREY = WHITE METAL.
They really look exactly alike, which isn't a good idea for gradients because it's just another one you have to use, aka it uses space.   >_> sorry, but it had to be said

It's not the exact same.

You'll be surprised what little changes can trick the eye.

Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Re: Shading

Dude, If you're shading large objects, It makes a world of difference. They are not the same shade.

edit: [stolen from Bee's pallattes]
The one on the left is beta gray, the right is white metal.
