Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Here is a concept proof of a portal cannon that can shoot you in a variety of directions depending on how you enter it and what keys you hold. The most common directions of exit are to the diagonals, but you can hit other directions and with other configurations I have found other exit possibilities. I expect there are many potential configurations.
Note that all the outer portals lead to the inner portal. The inner portal leads nowhere; it doesn't matter where it leads, as you will never enter into it, only exit. I'm sure there are other interesting potential designs.
Note that if you do not have arrows in the interior, its possible to get "stuck" and unable to fire, and have to try and fall out the bottom.

edit:
I made a basic simple map in a massive world. There isn't any gameplay to speak of except shooting and collecting coins while falling, but it shows off the power and variability of this cannon.

sounds very, very good, as usual!
Fraggin' epic, bro. It's freaking epic, but it doesn't seem like the idea would have taken that long to come up with, it's actually pretty simple (or so it seems, I suppose)

I put one in a massive map to show off how it works.
Jadelclemens, didn't take long at all. I stumbled across the basic structure while testing for another map, and once I figured out this might be possible, tweaked it for 15 or 20 minutes until it worked.

Pretty nice. Figuring out some positions and arrow combos that work well for where I want to go.
