Does this look like a sunset or mud?
Kinda looks like mud imo, but at the same time it's what a sunset looks like.
Suggestions?

I'd say it looks like a sunset, but the title,talking about mud as well, planted the idea in my head. Now I can't not see mud. 
Looks great anyhow, although it does look a little brown... But I can't draw anything, so yeah...

When you draw the sun it might more like a reflection of the sunset. Maybe try using a slightly more orange palette.

When you draw the sun it might more like a reflection of the sunset. Maybe try using a slightly more orange palette.
Any blocks you had in mind?

Well, see what the level looks like with the sun colored in first. After all, the water is a reflection of the sun.

Idk yet. If I keep the sky black, yeah I'll put mini's in. If I decide to color the sky (which makes more sense) then it'll probably be a boss level.

If you wanted it to truly look like water you will have needed a scene from further away, considering how large the ee block pixels are. Then you would do a combination (like rava shading) of orange/red and blue varieties very close up. From far away they would look similar to brown, but clearly would not be.

It really looks like a river inside a cave with murky water, especially the way it's cut off, which looks awesome. Maybe you can do something with that?
