I think you should do a mix of both- Use the color pallette from #2 to make a pattern in the leaves similar to #1.
I agree with Chimi, I thuink it would look better. The first one looks so... unshaded? And the second one is too plain.
I think 1 is better... but the texture on the 1 doesn't look as good as it could be.
