Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Now that my Metroid 1986 map is all finished, I'm going to tackle its bigger brother: Super Metroid.
The source map: http://www.metroid-base.com/inc/_templa … m3map3.jpg
Lessons learned from Metroid map:
-Don't worry about 1:1 accuracy in replication.
-Change the map as necessary to make the world an EE challenge.
-Make the path fairly linear; backtracking in a coin hunt world is a chore.
-Don't shrink down the scale to make everything fit; just include the most memorable parts.
I also get a chance to make a world that feels more organic and less...rectangular. The original Nintendo was very primitive, so designers had to make all of the horizontal rooms exactly 1 screen tall, and all of the vertical rooms exactly 1 screen wide, and every time you passed through a blue door, the game switched from horizontal to vertical. On the Super Nintendo, this limitation is lifted, so designers were free to come up with a much more organic world.
Original metroid, full of sharp 90-degree junctions and skinny tunnels: http://jansenprice.com/metroid/met1/met1_map_fz.jpg
Super metroid, more gradual slopes and larger rooms: http://metroid.retropixel.net/metroid3/metroid3_map.gif

Are you pumped? Is there anything else about the "Metroid 1986" world that you think I should have done differently?
I cant wait, love the metroid series. The last one You made, made me play through the real game thrice^^ Really nostalgic.
Oooh one thing, You know the shortcuts You had in Your last level, please dont use those in this one. They ruined the gameplay a little.

Wow. Really? I felt like a lot of people were rage quitting because of the backtracking before I installed those.
Okey, but metroid without backtracking? It just doesn't give You the same feeling, but it's up to You to decide^^
Here's the link to the worlds:

I'd say I'm about 5% done. I have a small part of Crateria finished, and the shell of Tourian.
If You would like, I could help You fill out the different areas?
Oh my god I love Metroid! Good luck, man.
