Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Submit your own, or improve someone else's. Small, fast, and simple is ideal!

3key 3grouper, left is smallest (by NerdDan), right is least exploitable (by Awsum Cow), need a 2key 3grouper.

Post them here, if its not against the rules:http://eeforumify.com/viewtopic.php?id=10289

But I guess this is OK too, its where you post things you make.

EDIT: I have a mechanism that lets people ??????? with each other, assuming theres only 2 people at max...

Thats not better, we want smaller ones.

Re: EE Logic, Mechanisms and Inventions

Yeah- We are aiming for small and simple, the smaller the better! Also, if you manage it using just 2 keys, it'll be better no matter the size!

I'm going to try and figure out a 2-key 3-group system. If you're looking for something to do, you could try the same. The other thing I think would be useful would be a MAX system, that only allows 2 people in before closing, even when those people are practically on top of each other. One simple way to increase the gap size between people is to use inward arrows, >>>>>   <<<<<<, they fall down while becoming more and more separated.

I'll keep you up to date on any breakthroughs I have on the 3-group system.

So far, everyone else's can be exploited.

This one is bigger but it's harder to exploit: EEmachine.png

Re: EE Logic, Mechanisms and Inventions

Interesting claims. How could you exploit my design?
I see yours causes player 1 to continuously push the red key, player 2 to continuously push the blue key, and player 3 hits the green key, allowing both p1 and p2 to fall down...
But I also see the same exploits. If 2 people jump in at the same time, they may still both end up going to the red key.

So what exploits does your protect against?

I also noticed another exploit:
You can sit, AFK, not moving, under the red key... Essentially having an unlimited amount of players join you.

One slight improvement to help protect against the device being rushed would be to have a red key under the red latch, a blue key under the blue latch, and a green key right near the entrance.

Keep improving. Remember, if it would work for AFK players, it works for us! We just need a 2-key 3-grouper.

You can get in the first and second room by simply holding the --> key even when somebody is already in there

The other exploit in your machine is that when someone activates the blue key, the other two can hold up to avoid falling. Thus making only one person go down.
As for the exploit you pointed out(You can sit, AFK, not moving, under the red key... Essentially having an unlimited amount of players join you) I put just enough arrows to prevent that. So overall mine is harder to exploit.

Nope, just press right AFTER youve hit the key. That will still make you go back.

I've thrown our new designs into the OP. I plan on having many mechanisms there. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

What shall we do next, if no one can come up with a 2key 3grouper.

Hmmm I can't think of anything with only two keys.

EDIT: this is hard xD

EDIT 2: is this possible?

Re: EE Logic, Mechanisms and Inventions

Alright, new challenge:
We need a 1key 2grouper that's not exploitable. We have one that's very exploitable (only works for AFKers).

Ok finnaly finished:
2011-09-06_1400.png
Its a bit hard to explain how it works, so...
Try it yourself: http://beta.everybodyedits.com/games/PWufZ_6mHja0I
I see no exploits...

EDIT: it is the 1 key 2 grouper system...

EDIT2: Updated it a bit...

EDIT3: Update again

I have never thought of programming for reputation and honor. What I have in my heart must come out. That is the reason why I code.

Re: EE Logic, Mechanisms and Inventions

It's a bit sensitive, Processor (I found it would often be unpredictable when I was using 2 guests to test it)
However, it does work! So it's currently the best 1key 2grouper we have.
This gives me hope for a noexploit 1key 2grouper, or potentially a 2key 3grouper.

Also, I thought of a new mechanism that would be great- The "too many coins" block. Simply put, a tiny "funnel" that is closed off if you have too many coins. Now obviously you could make a platform made of coinblocks, and you need that platform to be able to progress, but that's actually quite a lot of space! Let's see if we can make it simple, automatic, and 4x4 or smaller.

Here's a thought:
When the key blocks change solid and you're on top of one, they remain transparent for you. A long drop made of these blocks would be solid for everyone else, but nonsolid as you're falling down it, until the very moment you exit the line of key blocks, at which point they all become solid to you as well. I feel like this little feature could be the key to an absolutely zero exploit grouper mechanism.

P.S, this thread also loves autobosses that are small, neat, and sophisticated, so share them too!

Re: EE Logic, Mechanisms and Inventions

Uhh...
I could possibly be of some assistance if I understood the terms "nkey xgrouper".

What does it mean, in other words?

Re: EE Logic, Mechanisms and Inventions

A grouper is a device with an input and an output....
When x people go into the input 1 at a time, they are expelled as a group out the output.
IE, if you have a coop map, you can put the spawnpoint as the input, and people will be forced into groups of 2.
That would be a 2grouper.

The problem is, groupers seem to use lots of keys! The less keys, the better. The current best 3grouper (to group incoming players into groups of 3) uses 3 keys, thus it is a 3key 3grouper. We are looking for a 2key 3grouper.
