the way i get an idea is think of something random. then i think of stuff releted to that and put most of that stuff in the level.
e.g.
Toast, a random thing. toaster, butter, marmite (yum, favorute topping), eating, ect. put some of that in the level

Adventure? Maybe Stairs, (Key stairs) Then a boss, and then your ideas.
