Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Landscape and other things

A few days ago two of my best members of my crew, had quit on me. They said someone told them I was a noob leader.

I ended up making this level just to test my skills, and to see how nooby I am.

Here's my level:

I think I do a pretty good job at landscaping, but apparently my former crew members don't think so.

I'd like to know what you think and what I can do to make it better.

Thanks!

*EDIT: I do NOT have any minis in it.

Re: Landscape and other things

Overall, I like your art. I do have a few suggestions however.

First off, you should always try to blend your shading when doing larger objects (like the clouds for example) because the larger the object, the more obvious the lack of shading is. Also, while on the topic of shading, checkerboards won't always work. The ground in that level lacks the look of professional shading. Sometimes trying semi-random shading works better. Checkerboard style does work sometimes, as seen in the tree, but most of the time there is a better option.

And my second and final piece of advice: Don't keep everything so simple. This level had nice and original artwork, except for your clouds and the ground. Sometimes   clouds need a bit of fluff and bumps to go along with their round shape. And as for the ground, sometimes adding a hilly appearance makes it seem more attractive and pleasant to look at.

Overall I really liked your artwork. Great job, and don't stop improving. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

I love the house, I guess you could improve on the tree, rather than having a single differnece in color from right to left, you could have it darker on both sides, and maybe add a bit of a texture or tiny twigs branching off from the tree.

Re: Landscape and other things

To be honest:
You need to have better shading skills and techniques, and also some of the sizes of the thing

Should be realistic. A tombstone as big as a crap shack, doesn't make sense. The shapes of

Things should be better, I mean the clouds shouldn't plain circles. And you need bigger things

Things to cover up the empty spaces. The phrase "quality over quantity" kind of a plies.

You can have a few thing but you need to make them bigger. The only thing I like is the

Lightning, just because of the gradient.

I'll take your advice. I'll make the tree and the shack bigger. And I'll shape the clouds a little bit more.
