Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Ohho's Cloud Tutorial

Welcome!
I   noticed that there did not seem to be a cloud tutorial, so I made this one. (If there is one at least you can make a new style of clouds. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue)

Clouds are very complicated to make, so this tutorial has many steps.
Enjoy the tutorial!

6Qf18.png
This palette goes from light to dark, with the ninja pack bg to transition from grey to blue.
9E7hH.png
If you are stuck and need a cloud shape, look up cloud on the internet or look out the window to find a realistic shape.
UVqc4.png
Imagine that your light source is a sphere, and has light going in every direction. If you are having trouble with this part, draw all the arrows of light.
cPDkY.png
Don't push the area of all silver more than 5-6 blocks into your cloud. (This will vary according
the size of your cloud.)
SDZUK.png
Use the 50-50 dappling technique used in the picture, but don't stretch it too far into your
cloud. (3-4 blocks max.)
3WpDA.png
This step is pretty self-explanatory.
MfjBt.png
Use the 50-50 dappling technique to go all the way down the palette. Stop when you have
reached the ninja bg.
m9Mim.png
Try not to stray too far from the cloud with the ninja bg. (Keep it 1-2 blocks away.)
MYZQT.png
Try to have the cluster not be too big or take up a lot of the cloud.

Happy cloud making!

Sorry for bad cropping skills in the first one. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

EDIT: If you have beta add the beta grey block to the palette, and put it between silver and sci-fi. Dapple silver into grey beta, and grey beta into sci-fi and so on.

Added a storm cloud. Should I add how to make it to the tutorial?

Re: Ohho's Cloud Tutorial

This is an extremely basic way of shading. Make it light on one side, and transition to darkness on the other. ;-; But nice job, I guess . . . :3 Although I'd shade it differently. Maybe I'll go ahead and make a tutorial myself. =-D

Re: Ohho's Cloud Tutorial

iPwner- The lack of going down the gray spectrum makes it more realistic. When you look at a cloud it often
goes directly from light to dark.

Kirby- Like I said in the intro, now you know a new style. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

Re: Ohho's Cloud Tutorial

Ohho: I'm not saying you need to use more colors, I'm saying that it's just too 2D. ;p My clouds are usually 2.5. =3

Re: Ohho's Cloud Tutorial

iPwner- Okay. Part of the reason the shading is basic is the fact that I am not beta and am missing a part of the gray spectrum. And yes, it is a bit 2D. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue I might make a second part with clouds at an angle when I have time.

Re: Ohho's Cloud Tutorial

I went into the world to see the minimap, and it looks much better not zoomed in. The zoomed in picture doesn't do the cloud justice because you can see each individual pixel. This is a really nice cloud Ohho, I like it //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

Thanks Greenzoid2! I replaced the image with a link to the level because I agree with you that the image does not do the cloud justice. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink

This isn't in-game art. It is meant to be seen on the minimap, where it looks like a cloud. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile
Anyway, thanks for the review!
