The switch is already take, it is the mechanisim for making sure a player does not get more than one life.

White Gems should be placed in a spot which requires to do a quick mini, but the mini is hard and timed. Try using time blocks throughout the level. If you want inf. time blocks you can always ask someone to do the infinite blocks glitch.
