Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

You walk along a road in silence. The road, winding through the valley like a snake, is faded and worn beneath your feet. Something is drawing you closer to a mountain ahead; an indescribable pull of curiousness drags your feet toward it. The mountain itself is a sight to behold; on an island inside a murky gray lake, its sharp peaks tower surrounding landforms, and an ominous green glow is being produced from within.

A strike of lightning ignites the sky ablaze for a brief moment, and soon after it is replaced with freezing rain. Your slow pace speed up to a run as you quickly approach the mountain. A woman's voice sounds from within, only heightening your curiosity. As you approach the entrance, your attention is immediately stolen by the hundreds of racks filled with a variety of liquids. Your eyes shift to a small doorway to the left. As you approach, the woman's voice returns, louder. She is speaking an unfamiliar language, if any language at all.

As you peek around the corner, you see a hooded figure reading from an aged book, and a little girl is strapped to a table beside her. The girl screams, but it soon fades into a whisper as a green light consumes the room. When the light fades, the girl appears to be dead.

You quickly run away toward the entrance, and as you look back you see a small green light fly toward the clouds as lightning ignites the sky once more.

It is up to you to stop this mysterious woman from stealing the souls of innocent people, and reveal the secrets of Witch's Mountain.

This.

Only the beginning is that way, and I can't do anything about that.
It's not colorful enough. The only block I can use is black block. In the beginning.

At least they're IN the art, and you're not in trapped inside a box the whole time.

[EDIT] Dangit, I left and forgot to save my level. :c

Re: Testa mah leval

- You need to finish the level, which won't be too difficult because it's a somewhat easy level.

I think you underestimate my noobishness =P

Re: Testa mah leval

There are a lot (4) of levels on my profile, how do you know which one is my level?

I say this because it isn't on my profile //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Re: Testa mah leval

Well, I have already tested it //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue The art is quite beautiful, but the minis weren't the best. They were enjoyable, but still not that fun.

Re: Testa mah leval

My apologies.

My level, http://everybodyedits.com/games/PWAIRJ5Zx6a0I , is now public. You can test it and provide feedback, but I will not be able to make alterations to it.

Feedback it still valued.

Re: Testa mah leval

I'm sorry, Tako, but it seems that this has the same problems as MG Crew's: the art is amazing, but you relied so heavily on decorations that the gameplay sucks. There were several black box minis, too.

I also noticed some randomly scattered castle background. Is that on purpose...?

I am extremely disappointed in you. A hookjump? A tightfit? Don't say they were by totally accident, for it was necessary to complete them in order to progress in the level.

The ending was extremely disappointing. The level ends at that little corner that I already had to visit twice when I, admittedly, fell off the green one-way blocks? I thought I must have missed something, but no, for I already had 21/21 coins. That's... a shame.

Again, I love the art; it's beautiful. The gameplay, however, was very poor, and isn't that the most important part?

Art: 9/10
Minigames: 2/10
Over all: 5/10

I thought I made myself sufficiently clear in the OP, but I suppose not.

It's meant to be short and easy.

I was somewhat relying on Supadorf24 to be in my 'group', but he decided to play this competition solo. I am, without question, absolutely horrible at minigames, especially on such short notice. That, combined with inexperience of making levels completely solo, has indeed created an undesirable gameplay for people like yourself.

Who knows? Maybe the judges will love it. Doubtful, though. EX would've snagged the first place prize anyway, and I'm not too interested in a pumpkin as a smiley.

Also, on an unrelated note, how many of you visited the bit.ly/tm03 link?

Re: Testa mah leval

I have had time to play through the full level without being bothered, and now that I think about it, the minis aren't all that bad. They are minis that maybe considered as "black box" minis, but they are also "original" minis in a way. They are original because they require a player to think, and it is not as straightforward as most minis currently are. The only thing I would suggest though, is making the level longer, since it is too short in my opinion.

Re: Testa mah leval

1) I, personally, do not see a single problem with using black blocks. You can still play the challenges as like any other block, and in this particular level, they fit the spirit. You're walking on a dark path, what better block to use than black block?

Also, I think RPGMaster2000 was trying to tell us not to make levels like BEE's grand piano, with a masterpiece of art with minigames nowhere near it or fitting the spirit. This level, if nothing else, clings to the art and is integrated inside it; not around it or far away from it.

It also makes a story, if you have enough imagination. The background text tells a story of your lonesome walk, and how you need to get home fast because it is raining. It follows to say that you find the Witch's Mountain, and you spy on the witch and find out that she's stealing souls, yada yada yada. I think text would've helped it out a ton, so I could explain the story as you go along.

2) My minigames are a combined effort of every minigame I've ever seen. It's just not my mentality to study the minigame and make a completely new concept for one, so I regret to admit most of these minigames -- although not duplicates -- are not completely of my design.

3) I like short levels. And given the current format of EE, you can't pause the game and go to dinner. You either complete it in one setting, or restart.

Re: Testa mah leval

I was at the green part, then it kicked me :c
Anyway,the art is...like real.Fantastic art.And I was enjoying the minis.Then,you know,it kicked me :c
This would have a potential to win the contest, but in my opinion,it doesn't contain anything that refers to Halloween,it just stands there like a normal art level, but with fantastic art.
If I don't rate this as a Halloween level, itis really good.BUT IT KICKED ME :C

Re: Testa mah leval

I raged after exploiting the first minigame, then being confused on the second, falling, started doing a mini, and found a secret block and fell. :\.

Re: Testa mah leval

1) Any exploit you found wasn't something that made it easier.
2) I don't really see what's confusing, but alright.
3) You were supposed to fall. I was trying to make a plot. You know how you were on a path with an abyss-type-landform on your right? Well, I decided that since it was night and slippery that it would be suiting to fall into it. :]
4) Yeah, you trip over things when you're in the dark. Keepin it real.
