Rep is an abbreviation for reputation, and all it basically says is what the community says about you.
For instance, I have the highest Reputation, so it would be reasonable to assume that if I answer a question, I'm more likely to be correct than Linus 21(now banned), the user on here with the lowest reputation.

reputation is , of something somebody has done' or achieved & people believe that it was good ' & respect it *that's my opinion of it* +1?

If you like something somebody did, + rep them. If you don't like what they did, - rep them.
