Mafia 51 - Secret Weapon [TOWN + GLADIATOR + SURVIVOR WIN!!!]

Welcome to Mafia 51 - Secret Weapon. We are looking at unprecedented, troubling times. A plague is tearing through the country, and your government needs your help. Our sources have tracked an infected individual that may be in your area. In order to limit the spread of the plague, we are implementing new measures to help limit the spread of the disease. From now on, you are no longer allowed to go outside of your house at night. Food and necessities are to be rationed. You are no longer allowed to leave this town. Anyone who does not comply with these measures will undergo a democratic trial held by your town’s population, and may potentially be sentenced to death. To ensure these practices stay in place, we have dispatched government agents to help with the transition process. Your democratically elected mayor will be taking a back seat in this transition. Do not climb the wall we have built around town. Please note that we are only doing this for the safety of this town and its important member(s). Do not disobey.

Here are the rules that must be followed at all times:

▼Game Rules

- One in-game day will last 48 hours. One in-game night will last 18 hours. One in-game dawn will last 6 hours. Dawn occurs after a night is over, but before a day begins, and is a time where players receive feedback from the moderator. If you have a usable ability and do not respond in time, your turn will be forfeited, unless you are obligated to perform your role, in which case you will perform your ability on yourself.

- Votes that are not made using the Bold or Header tags will not be counted. Self-votes are allowed. See "How To Vote" below for tips on parsing your votes correctly.

- Do not game-throw, it's not fun for the other players and it's certainly not fun for your teammates (if you have any).

- Follow the rules of the forums and please be nice. Editing will be turned off.

- Orange will be the color I will be using to make posts as the game moderator. Do not use this color or otherwise attempt to impersonate me.

- Players may be prodded after 48 consecutive hours of inactivity by using the !prod <username> command. Players that are prodded for inactivity and don't become active within the next 48 hours will either be replaced or modkilled (if there are no replacements). Being inactive is not fun for anyone, please put in an effort.

- Do not discuss this game outside of this thread or outside of your role PMs unless express host permission is granted otherwise.

- A lynch will not occur when a majority has been reached. A lynch can only occur when the day ends. When a day ends, all lynch votes will be counted, and whichever player was voted for the most will be executed after factoring in role modifiers and abilities. If you do not vote, your vote will be counted as !sleep. Players can vote to not lynch anyone during the day by using the !sleep command.

- At the end of the Day Phase, a player will be lynched even if a (50% + 1) majority hasn't been reached. Rather, the player with the most votes amongst voters (a Plurality) will be lynched. If a Plurality of players vote to sleep, or two options are tied, sleep is chosen as the result.*

- Twilight occurs when the day has ended but the moderator hasn't closed the thread. Talking is allowed during twilight, provided the thread isn't closed. Players nominated for lynch may talk until the moderator announces their death. Once you are dead, you are not allowed to talk in the thread until the moderator has ended the game.

- Users not participating are not allowed to post in the game topic.

- Do not take screenshots or quote anything from your role pm. Do not attempt to fabricate fake quotes or pictures from your role pm. Do not post your Role Card ID, or a fake Role Card ID. This will be punished via modkill.

- To let me know that you've read these rules, please append your first message in this thread with the word "purpose" so that you will not forget that we are here with a purpose.

This game is a semi-open setup, so you will not know what roles are in the game to start. Here is the setup.

▼Setup

These are the possible roles that will be in the game. Not every role is used in the game. A (V) indicates that the action is one that constitutes a visit. The Mayor, Oppressor, Gladiator, and Plaguebearer roles are guaranteed to be in the game.

▼Town Roles

Vanilla - You have no abilities. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Cop - Once per Night, you can target a player to Interrogate (V); you learn whether or not they are Evil. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Sleuth - Once per Night, you can target a player to Investigate (V); you learn their exact role. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Inspector - Once per Night, you can target a player to Inspect (V); you learn their role modifiers. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Gambler - Once per Night, you can choose to predict the death of one other player (that the player will die during that Night or by Lynch during tomorrow's Day Phase. You can also instead choose to predict that nobody will die. If you make a correct prediction, your defense is increased for each correct prediction. With one successful prediction, you are protected from Basic Attacks; with two, you are also protected from Powerful Attacks; with three, you are protected from Unstoppable Attacks as well. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Vigilante - Once per Game, during the Night, you can target a player to Liberate (V); you make a Powerful Attack against that target. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Jailor - Once per Night, you can target a player to Jail (V); that player cannot visit other players, and other players cannot visit that target. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Retributionist - Once per game, during the Night, you can target a dead player to Revive (V); that player comes back to life. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Realtor - Once per Night, you target a player to Invite (V) to the Neighborhood Chat, a private chat where you can communicate with others 24/7, even during Night Phases. Any player can be invited to Neighborhood Chat, but you do not automatically start out with access. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Nurse - Once per Night, you can target a player to Heal (V); they gain Protection from Basic and Powerful Attacks during this Night. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Coroner - While you are alive, players who die will have their Role Cards flipped. If you die and there is no other Coroner and no Undertaker, Role Cards no longer flip. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Criminologist  - Once per Night, you can target a dead player to Autopsy (V); you learn all actions performed on that player. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

Mayor  - Once per Game, during the Day, you can choose to Reveal your role; the judge will confirm that you are the Mayor. While revealed this way, your 1 Vote counts as three votes. You are town-aligned. You win when all evil roles are eliminated.

▼Mafia Roles

Goon - You get access to Mafia Chat, a private chat where you can communicate with other Mafia members 24/7, even during Night Phases. Once per Night, you can choose 1 player to Murder (V); you deal a Basic Attack against that player. You are the only Mafia role in the game with a killing ability, so use it wisely. You are mafia-aligned. You win when there are none left to oppose the Mafia.

Undertaker - You get access to Mafia Chat, a private chat where you can communicate with other Mafia members 24/7, even during Night Phases. While you are alive, players who die will have their Role Cards flipped. If you die and there is no other Undertaker and no Coroner, Role Cards no longer flip.You are mafia-aligned. You win when there are none left to oppose the Mafia.

Forecaster - You get access to Mafia Chat, a private chat where you can communicate with other Mafia members 24/7, even during Night Phases. Once per Night, you can choose to predict the death of one other player (that the player will die during that Night or by Lynch during tomorrow's Day Phase. You can also instead choose to predict that nobody will die. If you make a correct prediction, your defense is increased for each correct prediction. With one successful prediction, you are protected from Basic Attacks; with two, you are also protected from Powerful Attacks; with three, you are protected from Unstoppable Attacks as well. You are mafia-aligned. You win when there are none left to oppose the Mafia.

Oppressor - You get access to Mafia Chat, a private chat where you can communicate with other Mafia members 24/7, even during Night Phases. On every even Night, once per Night, you can select 3 players; players must vote amongst these three players during the next Day Phase, or they must vote to skip. You are mafia-aligned. You win when there are none left to oppose the Mafia.

▼Neutral Roles

Gladiator - Once per game, during the Day, you can Declare one other player; the game host will confirm that you are the Gladiator, and for the rest of the Day Phase, all other players now must vote amongst you and your target. A majority of players in the game (50% + 1) must vote for either you or your target to be Lynched. If no Majority is reached, you die. Not voting in this instance is counted as a vote to sleep.* You are neutrally aligned with yourself. You win if and only if a majority vote is reached against your Declared target.

Jester - On the Night after you are voted out, you can choose 1 player to Vindicate; an Unstoppable Attack is made against that target. You are neutrally aligned with yourself. You win if and only if you are voted to elimination.

Survivor - Up to three times per game, once per Night, you can put on a Vest; you gain protection from Basic and Powerful Attacks for the Night. You are neutrally aligned with yourself. You win if and only if you survive to the end of the game.

Executioner - You are assigned one player at the start of the game. Once per Night, if you haven't already won, you can have the judge reassign your target to a different, randomly chosen player. You are neutrally aligned with yourself. You win if and only if your assigned player is voted to elimination.

▼Neutral Evil Roles

Serial Killer - Once per Night, you target 1 player to Stab (V); you make a Basic Attack against that player. You are evil, and aligned with yourself. You win when there are none left to oppose you.

Plaguebearer - Once per Night, you target 1 player, dead or alive, to Infect (V). If that Infected player visits another player, they also Infect that player. If another player visits an Infected player, the visiting player is also Infected. When all players in the game have been Infected, including all dead players, you become a Pestilence during the next morning, and the judge publicly announces that a player has become a Pestilence. You are evil, and aligned with yourself. You win when there are none left to oppose you.

Pestilence - You are protected from Basic, Powerful, and Unstoppable Attacks. Any player who visits you is dealt a Powerful Attack. Once per Night, you can target 1 Player to Doom (V); you deal a Powerful Attack against that player and any player who visited the player you Doomed during this Night. You are evil, and aligned with yourself. You win when there are none left to oppose you.

Voodoo - Once per Night, you can perform one of two abilities:
• Select a player and Craft a Voodoo Doll in their image (max one at a time each).
• Select a player that you've already made a Voodoo Doll of and another target; Force that player to perform their Night Action on the other target, expending that player's Voodoo Doll in the process.
You cannot be visited by players that you have made a Voodoo Doll of. You are evil, and aligned with yourself. You win when there are none left to oppose you.

Hexblade - Once per Night, you can choose one player to Hex. If all other players alive are Hexed, you can instead deal a Basic Attack against all Hexed players, causing your Hexes on them to wear off if any survived. You are evil, and aligned with yourself. You win when there are none left to oppose you.

Arsonist - Once per Night, you can perform one of two abilities:
• Select a player to Douse (V).
• Ignite, dealing a Powerful Attack against all Doused players, after which all players are cleansed of being Doused.
Players that visit you are automatically Doused. You are evil, and aligned with yourself. You win when there are none left to oppose you.

These are the possible role modifiers in the game. Not every role modifier is used. Each player will be given two role modifiers to keep throughout the entire duration of the game.

▼Role Modifiers

Breadcrumb - If a Breadcrumb player is lynched,  if their Role Card is flipped, so too is the history of each Night Action they took.

Bulletproof - A Bulletproof player is protected from Basic Attacks, if they weren't already.

Complex - A Complex player can perform their Night Actions on all players except for Vanilla and Goon.

Delayed - A Delayed player's Night Actions resolve the Night after they use them, even if that player died.

False Flag - A False Flag player shows up as evil if they are town-aligned, and town-aligned if they are evil.

Flagbearer - A Flagbearer is representative of a single faction in the game. If a Flagbearer of a faction is Lynched, then that faction will automatically lose the game.

Hammering - A Hammering player's vote against a player only counts if it is the vote that creates a majority against a player.*

Hated - One less vote is required to Lynch a Hated player. If a tie occurs between a Hated player and a regular player, the regular player takes precedent.

Impulsive - An Impulsive player cannot choose to not perform their Night Action. They must perform their Night Action if it is possible to do so.

Loud - When a Loud player visits another player during the Night, that player is informed that the Loud player visited.

Macho - A Macho player cannot be Healed.

Novice - A Novice player can't use their Night ability on the first Night.

Reporting - The results of a Reporting player's Night actions, as well as the Night Actions themselves, become publicly announced at the start of the following Day.

Roaming - A Roaming player can't target the same player for their Night ability twice in a row.

Sentinel The Sentinel always knows who the Flagbearer of their faction is.

Simple - A Simple player can't perform their Night Actions on any players except for Vanilla and Goon.

Smelly - A Smelly player causes all players that are visited by the Smelly player to appear evil for the rest of the game.

Here are some rulings regarding the game if anyone is confused:

▼Rulings

• If you die, you keep the role and alignment you had when you died, as well as any boons you might have had. Therefore, if a Retributionist revives you, for example, and you were a Pestilence converted from a Plaguebearer, you come back to life as a Pestilence. If you died while having access to the Neighborhood chat thanks to the ability of the Realtor, then you regain access to that chat. If your defense was increased because you correctly made predictions as a Gambler or a Forecaster, you regain your increased defense.

• The game does not end if one role wins. For example, if the target of an Executioner is voted out, the Executioner wins, but the game still continues. If the Jester is voted out, they win, but the game still continues. The game will only end when all remaining players have either won or no longer have an opportunity to win.

• Unless it breaks the rules of the game or is otherwise noted, all roles may target themselves with their own abilities. Killing roles are not allowed to kill themselves. A Goon cannot kill any of their teammates, even if they are forced to by the effect of a Voodoo.

• If your role meets the requirements to win, you win even if you had died earlier in the game. For example, if Town wins, it counts as a win for all dead players aligned with the Town as well.

• Wins are announced at the end of the game, even if a role wins the game before the game is over.

• Tying votes will result in nobody dying, and the game continuing on to Night.

• A Hammerer's vote will only count if that vote creates a majority. For example, if there are 6 players in the game, four votes are required for a majority. Therefore, the Hammerer's vote will only count if it is the 4th vote on a player.

• A Breadcrumb player will have the feedback they received from the moderator publicly announced upon their lynch. These results will not show if they are nightkilled. So, for example, if a Goon were a Breadcrumb, and they were lynched, each player that they targeted for the kill would become public knowledge.

Any further ruling questions will only be answered through private messages with the host in your role room.

Here is a list of commands that you can perform during the game:

!vote <username> - This command can be used to vote for someone you want to lynch. Please use header tags.

!unvote - This command can be used to signify that you'd like to retract your most recent vote. Please use header tags.

!sleep - This command can be used to vote to skip lynching any players for the day. Please use header tags.

!prod <username> - This command can be used to prod a player who has not been active in the thread in the past 48 successive hours.

!votelist - This command can be used to request a full list of votes from the game moderator. Vote count posts made by the host will not factor in role modifiers or abilities, and will simply only list players and their votes.

!confirm - This command can be used to confirm that you are active within the game in response to the role PM or a prod.

!reveal - This command can only be used by the Mayor or the Gladiator, and signifies that they are requesting a confirmed roleclaim from the moderator.

You can only use these commands in this thread! I will not accept any of these commands if they are made in a PM!

Whenever you are writing out a reply, you might notice some buttons above your input field. You'll notice they all have different text within them, and they may have a different look depending on the theme you are using. The buttons are as follows:

For general posting, you should not have to use many of these. Clicking on any of the buttons will automatically parse their functions in the post for you in brackets. Any text you want the code to apply to should be placed within the tags. The following are the only BBCode tags that you might find useful in this game.

When you are placing a vote, your vote must be made using Header text! The H button creates header text. When placing a vote, it must be done using header text, and it will look like this.

B creates bold text.

I creates italicized text.

HIDE creates text that can only be viewed by highlighting it, and it will look like this.

QUOTE will create a quote for which you can quote other players with. Each post will have a button at the bottom which will allow you to quote their full post, but if you want to quote only specific text, you can highlight specific sections to quote them. Fun fact: In Norway we have an expression where someone may "pull an onjit" which translates to utterly and thoroughly embarassing oneself with ones existence.

I have detected thinly veiled hostility from Onjit. The shakra vibes are not aligning favourably. He is very likely an anti-town evil role and not aligned with Marshmallow Marshall.

heres my summary of the game so far:
marshmellow man makes a **** targetting me for some reason
norbius follows and makes a joke with me
i make a couple jokes back
norbius decides to double down and make me out to be a villain

idk if norbius is scum or jester but either way he's being true to his normal self

as for everyone else, i cant really say, its early days and i frankly dont really have any other reads other than norbius and marshmellow going from 0 to100 real quick lol

Sorry, I've been asleep and then at work for the last 14 hours (I'm on my lunch break so this will be brief)

I just wanted to pop in and say that I didnt really say that much earlier because frankly there isnt much to go on D1 and was kinda just flabbergasted by being double-teamed so quickly

going to pull a "fermats last theorem" and say that i have reads but not enough time to write them (I'll see if I'm still alive at the end of my shift lol)

also going to keep my vote on norbius because it is funny

Oh something I just realized, Era could be a Jester. As soon as Muntant flips then people would go after him. Though maybe Onjit could be too and Era is just executioner? That would explain Onjit's play at the end of the day yesterday.

this is blatant wheel-spinning from a panicked mafia lol

ie. its just throwing out so many hypotheticals to just confuse people more than actually help

instead of getting boggesd down in what is technically possible, we should focus on what is probable.

here are the facts:
1. era claimed that theyre the detective and that devle js the opressor
2. devle claimed to be the flag bearer (but also bullet proof) (ie. the perfect role to not get limmed)
3. althea claimed that theyre the sentinel and that devle is the flagbearer
4. onjit (thats me!) claimed that theyre the sentinel and that devle IS NOT the flagbearer

it might seem trite to list out what we already have heard, but i think it is important to consider what is more probable:
1. era and onjit are telling the truth, and we should lim devle (and devle and althea are lying --> mafia)
2. devle and althea are telling the truth, and devle just happens to have the exact role needed to dodge norbius's move, and also era and onjit are both lying, AND btw theyre both independent to each other and are both third party, unless of course theyre both mafia

honestly i can see how devle claiming flagbearer makes it a risk to vote for them, but that is why it is so blatantly false

even if i didnt have clear evidence that he was lying (ie. the real flagbearer's name in my role card), i would still not believe him for a second

imo "majority" should be counted from the norbius vs devle votes, and non-voters and sleepers should not be calculated
