Welcome to Mafia 50 - Rise of the Phoenixborn! I hope you all are ready for some chaos! It is clear to me that one of you have been blessed with the Phoenix lineage, and I have created this gauntlet as a test to see which one of you it is. You will all be challenged to your absolute limit, so be the most conniving, the most cunning, and above all, have fun!

Here are the rules:

- One in-game day will last 72 hours. One in-game night will last 24 hours. One in-game dawn will last 24 hours. Dawn occurs after a night is over, but before a day begins, and is a time where players recieve feedback from the moderator. If you have a usable ability and do not respond in time, your turn will be forfeited.

- Votes that are not made using the Bold or Header tags will not be counted. Self-votes are allowed.

- Do not game-throw, it's not fun for the other players and it's certainly not fun for your teammates (if you have any).

- Follow the rules of the forums and please be nice. Editing will be turned off.

- Orange will be the color I will be using to make posts as the game moderator. Do not use this color or otherwise attempt to impersonate me.

- Players may be prodded after 48 consecutive hours of inactivity by using the !prod <username> command. Players that are prodded for inactivity and don't become active within the next 48 hours will either be replaced or killed (if there are no replacements). If you do not confirm your role before day 1 ends, you will automatically be replaced or modkilled. Being inactive is not fun for anyone, please put in an effort.

- Do not discuss this game outside of this thread or whispering. You may "whisper" to another player by using the command !whisper publicly in the game thread. A whisper is a PM made through the forums. All whispers must be addressed to both the person you are whispering to and to the moderator. Whispering is NOT allowed during any time other than Day.

- You may NOT whisper to more than one player at a time. If you wish to whisper to multiple players, you must use the !whisper command for each separate whisper case. You can mend together strings of the whisper command in one post, but you must make sure to use the command as many times as you whisper. It is also highly suggested that you use these commands first before whispering to other players. Improper use of whispers will be punished via modkill.

- A lynch will not occur when a majority has been reached. A lynch can only occur when the day ends. When a day ends, all lynch votes will be counted, and whatever was voted for the most will be executed. If you do not vote, your vote will be counted as NoLynch. Players can vote to not lynch anyone during the day by using the !nolynch command.

- Twilight occurs when the day has ended but the moderator hasn't closed the thread. Talking is allowed during twilight, provided the thread isn't closed. Players nominated for lynch may talk until the moderator has announced their death. Once you are dead, you are not allowed to talk in the thread until the moderator has ended the game. However you are allowed a single short post if it is unrelated to the game.

- Users not participating are not allowed to post in the game topic, unless like above, it is a single short post that is unrelated to the game.

- Do not take screenshots or quote anything from your role pm or from whispers. Do not post your Role Card ID.

- To let me know that you've read these rules, please append your first message in this thread with the word "phoenix".

Most of them are ToS-based, the only ones that differ greatly from ToS roles (and would be a good idea to look into if you're already familiar with ToS roles) are the Monster Slayer, Milk Man, Yandere, and Cookies.

Its mostly because ToS doesn't have an equivalent to that role in their game. Monster slayer is basically just a self-righteous Vigilante, and will only kill certain evils. Milk Man just converts people (except in this game the converted player keeps their role, so it'll be harder to tell if they're converted). Yandere is like Guardian Angel, but much more violent. And Cookies is an amnesiac with a death wish (they'll only convert if they are attacked, and will convert their role to their attacker)

The rest you should look into as well, but they mostly resemble ToS roles, so at most you'll really only need to look over them to make sure you know which role they are, because not all of them are named after their ToS counterparts.

In case you're serious on this, Some woman enforcing the rules isn't alignment indicative. Because if Some woman is town, then they noticed someone revealing their role (against the rules) and it's just a bonus they so happen to be town. Now on the other hand, if Some Woman is mafia, they see someone claiming a mafia role, and if they're mafia, they'd know their teammates and thus jump at the opportunity to get a town (or at the very least, nonmafia) executed.

If anything, all it proves is that Some woman didn't read the player list, but to be fair sometimes I don't read it either because I think I know who's in the game and end up getting it wrong.

It's possible they're town, yes, and more likely than not they're town. But the fact of the matter is it is still very possible that Some Woman is a mafia pouncing on the chance to get rid of a nonmafia. Because as I said, if they were mafia, they would be well aware that Pqwerty isn't mafia (as they assumed Pqwerty was in the game).

I haven't played with Some Woman so I cant say for sure if that's just a slip on their part, so it's safer to assume that it's not a tell, because it could go either way.

To be fair, im pretty sure 90% of the whispers are meming. More of them are probably meming too, but i'm just guessing a large portion of them are because of the tone of the conversation right now.

Whispering will probably subside as the game progresses, but for now it makes an excellent joke to fixate on.

(1) Crumb means to give clues, like a Vigilante joking about killing someone.

Chances are no one is crumbing right now, since no one can be sure of who is good and who isn't, (2) but the point Norwegian is making is that 'Crumbing' used to happen in public chat, which made it more dangerous, because it would clue important towns in on their actions, but would simultaneously clue in the mafia. But with whispers, it makes it so that important towns can only clue in people they trust, rather than the major populace, which can be harming to Mafia.

In any case, I don't think the game is broken, just different to what we usually play. Obviously we can't know for sure until we see the final role list, but I don't think Mini would purposefully make the setup unbalanced unless it was purposefully a joke game.

Technically, not all factions need to prevent other's wincon's. One of the first rules (or whatever it was) that Minimania stated was that the game doesn't end when one person achieved their win condition. So theoretically, a Jester could be lynched and the game would still go on. If anything, if mafia had read these rules they would not target a possible jester, because it would only leave more chances for Town to slip up.

No, we don't. But assuming the 'ratio', shall I put it, applies, then with 14 players we're most likely dealing with 9T 3M 1N and one wild card. I just assume this because this is the setup layout I see most often for 13 player games, but since it's a 14 player game, I can't accurately predict what that 14th role's alignment will be. It could turn out to be different in the sake of chaos, but for the time being, we should assume we're dealing with 5 evils.

Actually both the Spy and Blackmailer used to have this ability, they never removed it from the Blackmailer and only removed it from the Spy.
