Somebody more knowledgeable than me can correct this but I think it's because player data can't be accessed outside of EE itself. PlayerIO (which handles EE's online services) has a system that allows you to connect to users' info from BigDB, which has semi-private info including lists of worlds, likes, and favorites. Since the game was hacked, the staff have worked on security a lot which includes privatizing this player data, so only EE's servers can access them. There has been some debate on whether or not this is needed, though.

Also, the way Yonom retrieves stuff (or used to, i'm receiving 404 error meaning yonom removed some certain elements?) is pretty much what N1KF said, the user send a request and ask for the player's playerobjects (back then, it would fetch... pretty much what you could see here: xeno's playerobjects (old one)). Now though, if you only wanted to check your own profile and stuff then that'd be easy (using payvault? and lobby connection), but it's an immense pain to look at other's player object especially when I believe they haven't connected to the world you're currently in. This is something I don't know yet.
It feel like it has been years and I wish they could start making some parts of it public now, for example it's fair to keep favourites and likes out of the player object when requesting. (This is very invading part as people could otherwise see which worlds you have favourited).

I wish they coulda make it so it doesn't do that, they coulda probably make another bigdb table so a user can basically request other person's profile but not that too much details, just the energy, purchase and that stuff that made yonom work basically. And if the person has chosen to make their account private then the bigdb returns nothing.
