The future of Everybody Edits

This has been discussed already in various threads here and there, but i feel like we need a standalone topic to discuss it since it is quite a big issue and concerns the future of this game.

EE has officially become unsustainable. It no longer has any marketable value. It has been wobbling and lurching in a long but steady decline ever since It's initial big decline in 2013-ish. And now it is finally time to do the merciful thing and pull the plug on this game. With the main site gone, what is the point in keeping up the Kongregate version? It is still there, mocking us with it's unsightly presence. Almost a monument to the destruction wrought by hackers, i bet the perpetrator logs in there every now and then to fist pump and cheer on himself for the destruction he created.

The way i see it there are only two options left on the table at this point.

Either Xenonetix completely removes the original EE still up on kongregate and makes his development team focus purely on EEU and EE offline. (optimal solution)

Or they remove EE temporarily to magically fix everything that's gone wrong with it, re-release it. Then finish EEU and EE offline. (This would drastically decrease development time for EEU and EE offline, only keep the original game up for maybe a couple of months or half a year more, probably be very difficult to fix all of the damage left by hackers and the security problems will still be there, ready to be exploited by hackers yet again, it is not worth the effort at all.)

Either way, they should absolutely remove the garbage left in kongregate.

Here are the reasons:

- The security of the game has been compromised. People's email and passwords have been stolen, every moment the game stays up is another second of valuable time for the hackers to dig deeper into the game and gain more information they can use for fraudulent and criminal purposes.

- Only the minority of players that log in with Kongregate accounts retain their worlds and items. Everyone who had an account on the original main site has lost access to their account and they cannot log in using the Kongregate version of EE.

- There were only about 5-6 players online last time i checked the EE Kongregate lobby. This amount of players in no way justifies keeping up a game that for all intents and purposes currently serve as a way for hackers to spread malware.

- The game has only been a drain and a waste of time for the developers that should be spending time on the infinitely more perfect remake EEU, rather than wasting time on this old aging flash game that was (even if there had been no hack invasion) going to be shut down not too far in the foreseeable future anyway.

- There is a spreading of pornographic content and gore on people's profiles in the game. EE is and has been marketed as a children's game, what kind of message is this sending to any potential future players? To children that were playing this game just recently?!

- EEU should be a fresh start, therefore the crap and problems of the old games should be flushed down the toilet. And right at the moment, everything about the old EE is wrong. Just end it.

I find this ironic as I believe EE:U will have just as much, or more, blunders as EE.
Just like now, Xenonetix will try to milk every last drop of money out of this game.

Re: The future of Everybody Edits

Here's a message I sent to xenonetix on discord last tuesday

hey, I have seen that ee.com as of now says "Sitebox is not available to Player.IO games on a free plan. Please upgrade: everybody-edits-su9rn58o40itdbnw69plyw", which to people oblivious about the existence of the forums, doesn't tell them much.

Considering the small playerbase we currently have and that this leak (and the fact that many ee.com users probably are oblivious to what is going on and may think the game is over) may damage the playerbase even further, I think it would be a good idea if they somehow were redirected to the forums (as long as it doesn't compromise security) or, as another idea, perhaps create an Emergency Official EE Discord to keep the playerbase together until all issues have been resolved (or EEU has been released), it could act as a hub for the community to keep them updated and prevent them from leaving the game for good.

Instead, for some reason he decided it was better to redirect ee.com to kong EE.
The community is not going to be able to survive this for longer, honestly, all the "early 2019" and "soon(tm)" memes have become more sad than funny.
Staff, shutdown kong EE, make an official EE discord server to group the community together until EEU is released (the ingame staff can moderate the discord instead) and release that goddamn game already.

Doesn’t there already exist an official EE server, but there is nothing worthwhile and efficient, a complete mess there.
What difference does the game live or die. 5-6 people play and the fact that the game is in the top of multiplayer does not bring more players.
It’s very difficult to find pornography in the game, especially for a small child, the chances will be very small. Even if a child notice pornography, nothing bad will happen. He will not get a shock or psychological trauma, but simply twists in disgust.

What did you want to say by this statement?  All we need is to wait, staff won’t bring anything to us on a silver platter.
The project "Everybody Edits Universe" is unusually complex, there is too few people to work (Joshua, Alex, Luke) and 2 hacker attacks as an additional voltage. What do you expect? The game in early 2019?
And obviously people blame Chris Lamb and Staff for this failure. Instead of help and support (Kira is a clear example)

There's an EE discord server named "Official" for some reason, but it's not official in any way //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue. The only official EE server is currently the Patreon one.

We're open to collaboration as an entity like the forum.

As far as the community is concerned it is the official discord.

It is the biggest and most active EE-related discord server, it used to be moderated by former EE and forum staff, and it is probably the only public-for-all discord server in which Xenonetix does AMA sessions from time to time.

Currently, thought Patreon, the game benefits financially by not acknowledging it as official, and most likely that's the only reason why it is not.

EE in my opinion is dead and I doubt EEU will be in public beta any time soon.
I don't think the staff actually cares about us. If they want to have a successful EEU they can't relay on EE's older player-base, they got to form a new one.

IIRC Processor named the discord "Official Third Party" as a joke because he thought it was contradictory and found that funny, and assumed other people would also find it funny and know that it was supposed to be a joke (or at least that's what he/others said when I asked).

The problem is that it actually makes sense, for example the forums actually are "Official Third Party" forums, as they are the forums run by a third party which are officially recognised as the EE forums by us, we have certain powers to make announcements etc, and they have an official domain.

Personally I'd agree that it should be called the "EE Discord" as it is the biggest / most active EE discord server, but official has an actual meaning, so it's not something you want to throw around (just as you don't want people to name their topics within the forums official when they aren't).

The forums have fairly similar rules and guidelines to EE, and are moderated more strictly to make sure that they are safe for the general public, so we're happy to be associated with them, while we wouldn't really recommend the EE discord to general players of what is supposed to (although admittedly has recently failed to) be a child friendly game.

It's not that I don't like the EE discord, it makes sense for it to have the rules it has, and I think it would end up worse off if it had to abide by a stricter set of rules, it's just not the official EE discord server.

Just call it second party. It's a third party forum, but it is officially recognized by and partially under control of a first party. The Discord could be considered the same.
