Touhou isn't just a STG (STG it by itself being a faulty western translation, it should be called "danmaku", literally "bullet hell" games.), that is a common misconception. It's an entire cinematic universe of characters that is used for various games not just by the official creator ZUN, but also by fans who make their own entirely different games based on the Touhou cast. There are many superfans of the Touhou universe who haven't even played a single one of the official games, they simply fell in love with the story and the characters based on gameplay videos or miscellaneous fanwork online.

This is just a sad attempt at bashing the franchise, ZUN is bad at art. You're not clever for pointing it out. There exists countless memes of it on official Touhou forums already. But where ZUN succeeds is in creating memorable characters with personality and flair that really adds up to an already exciting character rooster in the Touhou universe. As for the "bad art" argument, that includes only most of the official danmaku games, if you look at many of the fangames or official Touhou spinoff series like the fighting games Touhou 7.5, Touhou 10.5 or Touhou 12.8 you'd see heavily improved art since it was done by a different artist.
