Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Old bug, please fix in reboot.
Is this really a bug? I always assumed it was intended...
then again, coin doors, switches, and keys certainly don't act the same way.

I think thats because if you ever get stuck in one of those doors then theres no way out, in timed doors you just have to wait a few seconds.

The block should not close as long you’re on it

does any switch mechanism really use this mechanic? I think it's more of an annoyance to the player, as well as being an inconsistency

no but there's minis that make use of it
nothing campaigned so it'd be OKAY to fix it but i'd rather not
Pf uses this a few times

Semi-solution: add customizable timer to these doors/gates finally, so that in most annoying cases, they'd hold you for only 1-2 seconds maybe instead of 5.

Initially, timed doors that wanted to close on you would simply wait until you got out to close, after which they were permanently desynced from the actual timed door counter by however many seconds you were in there for. After about a week since their release they were redesigned to work as they do now.
I'm surprised it would never just wait for you to get out, and then snap right back to its intended state/countdown. Perhaps getting "closed" on would also reset your momentum in all directions to zero, ensuring that minis which rely on that feature (.g. the the red room of Kirby's "the minis") would not be broken.
10 years and still awkward. Keep it up, baby!
