What's the actual "solution" to the clock puzzle in The Witch's House?

I, as well as what I assume is most other people including the campaign curators, just kinda did the puzzle by randomly guessing until they made it.

This clearly isn't how it's supposed to be done.

i did the same just walkinf randomly in the clock i started by goign left as that was meant to be true path

He was asking for what the actual logical solution is (why the solution is what it is), not just what portals to take

Here are the relevant signs and their applications:

"As each room passes, so does the house, rotating 15 minutes or one quarter."

So, while you're in the first clock room you enter, the entire house has rotated 90 degrees clockwise, so Up is actually Left, Right is actually Up, Down is actually Right, and Left is actually Down. So:

"Both up and down always lead to sinister. There is only one correct path. The rest lead to misfortune."

Translation for this room alone: Left and Right lead to sinister - They both lead to a room (of misfortune) in which you will always fail the puzzle. - Up leads to the 6 clock of misfortune (to the left). - Down leads to the 6 clock of fortune (to the right).

So, let's do the 6 clock of misfortune first. Based on the rotation logic, Up is Down, Down is Up, Left is Right, and Right is Left.

"Left leads to death, Up leads to freedom, Right leads to uncertainty, and Down leads right."

Translation for this room: Right leads immediately to the bad ending (death). - Left leads back to the first room (uncertainty). - Down leads to the Bad Ending 9 clock (freedom). - Up leads to the right/correct 6 clock (of fortune, to the right).

Same rotation logic still applying to the 6 clock of fortune.

"Left leads to uncertainty, Up leads to endings, Right leads to confusion, Down leads back."

Translation for this room: Right leads back to the first room (uncertainty), Down leads to the Good Ending 9 clock (endings), Left leads to the Bad Ending 9 clock (confusion), Up leads back to the first room (back).

That's pretty much it - No matter what you do in the 9 clock rooms, you reach an ending. As far as I can tell, all of these signs are contradictory, and are red herrings to confuse matters further:

"Given by this, the correct way is always sinister. However that may not always be the case." - Thus, sometimes applies, and sometimes doesn't, so doesn't matter.
"One fact is always true, and that fact is that left is always right, and right is always wrong." - Contradictory statement, dependent on whether you assume "right" means "correct" or not. Interchanging the meanings results in different results, so this doesn't matter.
"In these halls, the directions of 3, 6, 9 and 12 are shifted so that sinister takes place at both the beginning and end." - Based on the statement at the start of the level, it doesn't matter whether the ways are sinister or not.
"The wrong path may lead to misfortune, one truth exists and shall never cease to exist." - Yeah, the wrong path 'may' lead to misfortune.

So, the direct correct solution is:

Down, Down, Any

An indirect solution (repeating the 6 room):

Up, Up, Down, Any

Hope this immensely complicated cryptic puzzle makes some sort of sense now!
