Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Question about school: 14+? 10+? 13+?

So when do you learn how children’s are created?

Don’t explain here how, just answer:

1) Do you like it?
2) How many times do you learn it?
3) Is it interesting for the rest of your class?
4) Do they Listen? Are they quiet?
5) “What do you do there?

For me it’s:

1) Not the way teachers tell it.
2)In the 4th, 5th and 8th grade (10?)
3) Yes
4) They paid attention for the first time in life.
5) If I’d tell I’d be banned here :/

Re: Question about school: 14+? 10+? 13+?

1) Um it’s a basic biological urge. Not much to say about that.
2) I honestly can’t remember when, i do remember the classes tho. They would do banal things like showing a picture of a D and then give candy to whoever said what it’s called out loud in the classroom. Also they brought in a d**do which all the girls had to put a condom on. Then i think they showed us "proper mast****tion techniques" by mimicking with their hands... it was so incredibly silly and awkward. I already knew most of what they teached by that point anyway.
3) Everyone in my class paid deep attention!
4) Everyone was laughing loudly but also paying attention.
5) I don’t understand this question.

1) It's pretty important to know. I don't mind it; it's less boring than bus ridership.
2) about six (gr5 health, gr7 health, probably gr8 health, gr9 health, gr9 sci bio unit (technically), i think i can count gr10 health, ...)
3) How do I know if people enjoy it?
4) Most of the class is just kinda there for the marks.
5) Depends on the class.

I don't see why you'd care so much as to post a topic about sex education. You don't need to share your new-found interest in sex with us, thanks.
I don't know any others who've taken the class who would decide to start a thread discussing their experience taking the class on a public forum.

In all honesty, you've posed the questions in a creepy way as well, with extremely vague and, at the very least, suggestive wording like "Do you like it," and "What do you do there?"

Re: Question about school: 14+? 10+? 13+?

One thing that I've always found odd is how immature people are about it in real life. This mainly happens on telly or by teachers who aren't actually teaching sex ed but the topic comes up. I hate it when people say things like "lady parts" or other uneccesarry slang for what is being discussed. Just say vagina. We all know what you mean. It's not a rude word. It's the scientifically correct word. You're not going to offend people by saying the word **** when the conversation is clearly about that.

I think you also fall victim to this which is shown in the vagueness of some of your questions.

I think what you're really asking is:

"Do you enjoy learning about sex education?"

"How frequently was it taught in your school?"

"Did your other class members seem to enjoy learning about the subject?"

"Did they listen to what the teacher was saying and remain quiet during the lessons?"

"What were you taught in these lessons?" (at least, I hope that's what the final question is trying to ask).

My answer to these questions would be that I did enjoy learning about sex education. Some of these lessons really did give me more confidence in my body and teach me that I'm normal. Like most people, I'd question whether certain things about my body were supposed to be like that and I spent a fair amount of time worrying about things. Let's be honest here, the internet doesn't help. Rarely does it give you the answers you're looking for. Instead, it often promotes more worry and more fear. One of the reasons I want to be sexually active with people of the same sex as me is the reassurance that my body is normal. In my opinion, sex education is given focus way too late in your education. At least it does in my country. It's briefly touched upon when you're 12 and then again during the early years of high school before it's given proper focus between the ages of 15 and 16. In my opinion, these ages are way too late to be learning things like what to do if you are raped, how much is the average period flow, are penises supposed to have spots, etc. And even then these things were usually only given a brief mention in a single lesson. Teenagers worry about these things and they should be reassured and prepared as soon as possible. It can majorly affect someone's mental health if they spend 3 years worrying about their body only to find out it's normal. This kind of insecurity should never have been allowed to grow.

As for my peers, they certainly did seem to like these lessons as well. Some for immature reasons, some for, presumably, reasons like mine. There was definitely always an awkwardness in this subject which I think would be alleviated by treating the subject as less taboo. Teach these things more frequently. Repeat information. Start teaching it at a younger age. It's important. Especially for people of school age. There's also certainly a gleeful atmosphere to these lessons as there are humorous moments and room for some immaturity here and there. That's what makes lessons memorable; fun. From my experience, the usually immature students are the ones the ask the most questions in these types of lessons. Not to specifically be immature, but simply because it is something they want to learn.

I hope to become a teacher one day. And this is the kind of subject I'd want to teach. To make sure it's taught properly to put people's mind and ease and perhaps go against the curriculum a bit to give people the extra information they need and educate them earlier when they need to be educated. Any chance to teach students more than just to pass an exam is worth teaching in my opinion. And I wish society, and people in general, were more blunt about this as I have been in this post. Sex effects us all. Whether that be a desire for it or a lack of one. People need to be educated on it. A culture that doesn't shame sex, and least of all the education of it, would be a much better culture indeed.

That makes more sense, but that thinking may be a bit too optimistic.

I’d just like to compare SE in other countries - I already thought it’s here horror - but no Looks like you’ve got a bad school, too.

I think those numbers are trying to be age restrictions, but are too indecisive, hence the plus symbol and question marks.

Re: Question about school: 14+? 10+? 13+?

hi, so sorry we left this going

I think it's a pretty linear argument to make that if the rules say content must be appropriate for children, a topic claiming to need to be restricted to some form of an older age contravenes upon that.

I mean, it's an interesting question for a different place, but these forums have an expected age range.
