where did they all go

the quokkas i've seen them i've fed them but now they're all gone

are they hiding in here no they're not, where did they go

i wear my quokka mask (of real genuine quokka) and i beckon, i beckon the small marsupial to please, come and enjoy my chow

but they never come. it's dark and scary and my candle's burning the mantle and i've not seen a single quokka

the frogs croak and the foxes whine and the owls hoot and hoot, yet the quokkas lay in silence, like birds before a storm

i eat the quokka chow because i can not take it any longer.
