Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Is this feature confirmed?

I'm hearing a lot of talk about vision blockers and some people act as if it's a confirmed idea. Can anybody tell me if it is in fact going to be added into the game sometime in the future, even if it is after the whole reboot thing?

Re: Is this feature confirmed?

To be honest i still dont know how the vision blockers will work. I dont mean that i dont know that they will cast a shadow. I dont know if the vision blocker will be a SINGLE block or if you can set a block from any pack to be a vision blocker. Can somebody maybe tell me? Because if you could set a block to block vision it would be way better than just a single block being able to block vision.

Re: Is this feature confirmed?

The current idea is that there would be a seperate block (I guess a secret block), which looks like the fully black block, but also blocks you from seeing whats behind it. There are 2 ideas of how it would do this:
1. Cast a shadow behind the block
2. Split the world into sections which you cant see between

why not just use a simple fill algorithm on the player's location to get the area that is visible to player and then fill everything not in the area with black

That is possible, and it would be very fast if you only needed to do it for a single screen, but as they could have loops, where the blockers go to the side of the map and back again, you would possibly need to do it for the whole map, which would be very slow.

theres no point in running this fill algorithm every single frame of the game.
only when a vision blocker is placed/removed

Re: Is this feature confirmed?

This discussion has already happened in the original topic, so there's no point repeating it here, but however you implement it, there are still just those two options of how it will actually function, as a block with a shadow, or a separator between sections of the world.
