I don't understand this.

Isn't EE literally the same game as it was, just more blocks and smileys now?  Screw more content, right?

the game is WAY too complicated for new players

most of the new blocks aren't really necessary

the whole interface is much more simple

Looks like Emalton work on the serverside coding for classic. Can't even detect CoinCollector at beginning.

I haven't touched the server. The server is the same as it was in 2011-2.

How is it too complicated?  You move around with WASD or arrow keys and jump. 

I found old EE severely lacking in blocks, but you can always just not use the ones you don't like.

I think the new lobby looks tons better tbh.. it's a lot easier on the eyes.

The only thing better with EE then was it had more activity.  I think the severe drop of players is due to very poor advertisement of the game.  If no one knows of it, no one will join.  Weekly updates are probably what kept a lot of people continuing to play.

I like EE Classic more than the normal version because you don't need a damn gaming PC to play it.

make this unity cause it wont take as long and its alot more simplistic and enjoyable imo then the new ee

also be great for newer players since there isnt 1000000000 blocks and stuff

nvd has only client of this version, but not the source code itself
so rippppp

(you can probably take source code of the current ee and remove and change some stuff so it will be more or less the same as this client but meh)

I think the smoothness is the reason why people used to love EE. When worlds were unsavable, worlds didn't have that many blocks. No backgrounds existed.
