Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I've lately been running into the issue that I need to edit forum links, because for some reason they get duplicated, resulting in invalid links.
This happens with the user, forum, topic and post BBCode tags.
Example of broken topic links in my signature
I've been experiencing the same issue on another websites, with different browsers too, and some friends have experienced the same, so it isn't a forum-only nor personal issue.
I'd still like a check for this since I simply don't know what's going on.

Congratulations, you are the only one to find that issue.
No, I'm seeing it over here, too, on Firefox.

What browser are you using? Sounds a bit like something that could happen when IE or Edge decide to do something differently to other browsers and the specification for no apparent reason...
Chromium, Firefox and the default Ubuntu browser. (yes, using Ubuntu here)
A friend on Windows had the same issue on Chrome.

I guess the topic title isn't as striking, or that I shouldn't be who makes these.

Not sure if youre being sarcastic, but I think he means this:

The global link issue is fixed.
So's the empty hide tag trick.

Oh ok, I guess something is normalising the path wrong then? Putting in the whole url any time it starts with /, instead of just the protocol when it starts with //
Yeah that's basically what's going on. The forums check if the link already has a protocol set, if not it tries to tack one on. Specifically, if it starts with a / it assumes it's a path relative to the forums and tacks on the domain name. I made an exception for double slashes, which should fix the post, topic, user, forum, all those bbcodes.
