I'll often pirate films/tv when I don't want to support the creators (eg. Walking Dead, Sequal Star Wars, Fantastic Beasts). I guess you can do the same thing with video games if you don't want to support the developers though I've never had occasion to. I would argue though that if they are giving their game away for free then there really isn't much harm in accepting that offer. The devs want you to have the game. If anything, it's a sales technique - like free samples. "Hey, did you enjoy that game I gave away for free? Well come buy my other games, you'll enjoy them too!". My point being that there is a huge difference between pirating a game and accepting it as a free gift.

There's plenty of reasons this topic exists. Some people don't like piracy or can't pirate. You also can get games you've never heard of and try them without going to the effort of pirating it. This is a useful topic and saying "hurrdurr just pirate it" is just a dumb and unuseful reply.

Good on Tomahawk for just giving codes away like that. I noticed a game I already owned when I bought a bundle from Humble. It's Plague Inc., one of the games included, so I'll go ahead and give it away instead of selling it on some annoying site or letting it waste away. Reply that you redeemed it if you did please, just like Tomahawk said.

I usee to play the free version on mobile and from what I've seen on the screenshots, the PC version has a wider gameplay and visuals
You can see how the disease affects a human at a higher detail, for example

Ya, and all the DLC is preinstalled if I recall correctly. I also don't know if the scenario editor was in Mobile, as I haven't researched in a while.
