Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I said 42, got banned for a month. It is just useless, in that small community banning everyone for small reasons, so they leave.
All I wanted to say.
no, for that 42 you got banned for a week*, not month.
I agree that useless posts should not be bannable unless it's discussion about something important or person spamming with useless posts and makes trouble
I am totally okay with Soniiety not understandable posts because he doesn't intentionally trying to be troller or spammer, he just says things he want to say but in broken English and gets banned for it
He said 42
So? He tried to be funny because 42 has it's own meaning and he tried to use that (even tho it wasn't funny at all)
He didn't intentionally want to make others get annoyed. And most people just skipped his post because they dkn't care

Yeah, the warning system is broken. If you got banned, you should probably should have known you were going to get banned for it. After all bans are to get rid of malicious posters, not stupid ones.

Go dig that thread Diff made about fixing the warning system.
Maybe something will happen.
One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

''Oh you made a joke post in a topic, and that post doesn't really do much except cause a minor inconvinience to almost no one? Yeah but you have a few warnings so have a one month ban.''
''Oh you actually posted someone's address or other personal information without their premission? Meh you haven't done anything before this so 1 month ban.''
Different crimes, same punishment. Fair.
How long will it take me to get banned again?
Place your bets right here.

You are lucky because you didn't get banned for 42 days!
Why did I even say that

I think the main thing about the warning system that makes people dislike it is the way it makes it seem like the first few warnings are 'for free' then after that the next small thing you do will get you some long ban, which makes it seem like the small thing you do is whats giving you the whole ban when it really isnt.
You probably didnt get banned for posting 42, you probably got banned for a load of small things, its just that the 42 post was what pushed it over the limit.

Maybe there could be some kind of reminder at the top showing you your warning level and how close you are to your next ban? Then the warnings would feel more meaningful.
thx for sig bobithan

Then stop warning people for that at all. Seriously!

Lets ban hummerz5, because i don't know what a snip is or something.

There needs to be warnings for things like that, do you want every topic to be filled with meaningless jokes?
Alright, one or two arent that bad, but there are only one or two because it gets you a warning, if you didnt get one then as soon as someone thinks of something they think is mildly funny, they would post it.
Also it means that the 'joke posts' that are posted are generally funnier, because it sort of sets a bar for what is funny enough to be worth it.
(Ive never been banned so might be wrong about how it works atm)
I guess the best thing to do would be to rather than saying the ban was because of the last thing they did, list all their warnings, so say something like 'You were banned for 2 counts of spam (minor) and minimodding' or something, then its more obvious that they arent just being banned for a silly 42 post or whatever
tl;dr; The warning system is fine, its the way bans are explained to people thats bad

for what is funny enough
What if I have another humour?

I just mean that with the warnings system in place, you probably shouldnt post something like '42', because it isnt funny enough to be worth it

I think the entire forum is brocken, woot limit, bad warning system, basically :/
small community == anarchy

I agree. In my course I try to find just about any point that the post makes in reference to any post. That's why most unintelligible rambling gets allowed because some piece is relevant. I didn't see how "42" or any connection I could make would relate.
If the system is terribly broken, you should revisit the discussion on fixing it. You all have different55's support if you could rally around his separate-warning-levels idea. I mean if you rallied around some other system that's cool but I think he'd be more keen to implement his own idea if it was hailed with fanfare
seriously we have plenty of complaints about the warning system or how I look at rules and that's fair, but rarely does anyone want to talk constructively
I'm not sure if "if it bothers someone" is good rule consideration. If you're asking me to decide how fun a message is, you're giving me some odd subjective responsibility. I can look at ideas conveyed, I can't say if it'll tickle most of the forum's humor. So please don't ask me to check if people will love a message
