Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Shadow blocks

Inspired by vision blockers

The shadow block. It's just like the black block, but it has a very dark shadow.
When you are next to a block on the left side, the shadow will be on the right side. When you are on the right side, the shadow will be on the left side etc.

Left images shows the block and shadow, right image shows how it really looks. The last one is like a vision blocker (blue = blocks):

Re: Shadow blocks

tbh i dont think ee game engine supports raycasting which would be necessary for making non-rectangular shadows

in the game's current current state simply having EE opened already heats up your computer
adding CPU-intensive shadow casting in real time would start thermonuclear fission in your CPU, srsly

Re: Shadow blocks

I agree that this would be a really good feature, and probably wouldnt be too CPU intensive as its just a few polygons (maybe an idea for when unitEE becomes a thing), it might not fit in that well with the rest of the game... I guess youd just have to make a mockup and see what it looks like (time for Gosha and another EE client!!! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile)

(In response to maxi) Also, there isnt really an 'EE game engine', its just whatever flash supports, everything they need seems to be just coded when they need it, and as raycasting isnt very complex, this should be fairly easy

I'm sure it's not as bad as sitting in the lobby.

Otherwise I think this is a really cool idea.

Re: Shadow blocks

If Unity is ever going to be released, it will clean EE a lot. And I think there won't be a CPU problem anymore, right?
