Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Make it so that after a person has been afk (not moving) for a certain amount of time he will start growing moss or get covered with cobwebs.
You can instantly recognize someone thats afk and avoid awkward moments!!
Or maybe the smiley can slowly turn into a brick and mold into the terrain.

If a player doesn't move after <x> minutes of sending their last message, or they use the /away command, they'll be marked as away, probably with a darker color on the chat and a gray smiley.
When they move, they'll be unmarked.
NOTE: If an user chats while marked as away, they'll still be marked, as they could have probably sent a quick message and gone back to whatever they have to do.
<x> can be set at world options, or via a /setawayinterval command.

world options? shouldn't it be game options?
Perhaps the world owner wants to detect those who are AFK using said interval.
