Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

EE world genre and sub-genre list

I worry this will spark more debate than I intend, but I want to share this. I'm creating a little outline of different types of EE worlds. A world can belong to one or many entries on this list, and this list is not yet complete.

EE world concept outline
1) Art-based
  A) Full-world image
--Often a bitmap image converted to the EE minimap palette.
  B) Doodles
     --Simple stuff; not too fancy
  C) Sprites / Pixel Art
     --Fancy, intricate art
  D) Smiley design
     --Because everyone needs to smile...?
  E)
2) Adventure
  A) Free exploration
--No set objective or goal; just a world to traverse and explore
  B) Linear path
--Negotiate obstacles and work toward the "winner" area.
     --No backtracking required/allowed.
  C) Nonlinear
--Collect coins to open new paths and reach the end.
  D)
3) Skill
  A) Minigame grid
--A collection of boxes with obstacles to complete.
  B) Staircase & keys
--Climb the stairs. If someone touches a key, you fall.
  C) Racetrack
     --Course filled with arrows/antigravity.
  D) Platforming race (key blocks)
     --Negotiate platforms and obstacles.
--If someone touches the key (winner; or creator on arrow loop) you fall and start over.
  E)
4) Novelty
  A) Rollercoaster
--Arrows zigzagging you from point A to B (and sometimes A again)
  B) ?Magic Coin? rooms
--Chock full of coins and arrows (nobody ever actually gets a magic coin)
  C)
5) Creator-driven
  A) Boss room
  B) Buy a house
  C) Run from the Gods
  D)
6) Chaotic
  A) Party/social room
  B) Trolled world
--Whatever it was before, this room is now MSPaint for Toddlers.
  C)
7)

Stairs & keys goes under bad levels. Doesn't take skill //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue ( someone had to say it )

I'm guessing platformers like the EX Crew levels go under adventure then?

^ That would probably be adventure (free exploration?).

Jakery, under "art-based," you should say "sprites" rather than "video game sprites." If you want to be picky, "pixel art." There ARE other kinds of it //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Lol, the list is purposely neutral... there won't be a "crap" or "noob" category.

I tend to think of most (if not all) EX Crew levels as adventure, yes. I'm avoiding the word "platformers" because pretty much any level with gravity on this list could be considered a platformer.

I'm not quite sure where this would fit in... it's a skill game but it's all based on the honor system, and in my experience these levels never really "work." Thoughts?

Wow... I've never even heard of a lot of these game modes; I guess they've fallen out of popularity? I'm studying Rurigok's list now...
