Seeing as Everybody Edits began as just a test, Chris quickly used the Facebook smilies and they've stuck in the game since then.

Remember, when this game was first made Chris just put some sprites to just test it out, but I guess he redesigned them. He wasn't expecting for this to become a huge game.

Rofl. I look at the $10 Payment as a Donation. He didn't "Charge" $10 for the smilies, You just have the Option to Pay for them if you will. No one is Forcing you. Beta's just a prize you get for donating, and in all honesty, if somone donates $10 he doesn't HAVE to give them anything, but he chose to.
