Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I'm not 100% sure this is a bug, but it seems odd
(the effect works with the bottom platform being completely ice, I'm just not refilming this)
So you may think "jumping onto the gravity you move left and therefore have less time for the gravity to affect you", but starting at the furthest right there is the same amount of time spent on the ice and therefore exit speed should be the same, you don't have any time spent in the air after the gravity either.
So I added a downward boost to put me firmly at the bottom and right, but the result is the same.

Well, we could post the source code for the movement tick, but I doubt you'd care to read through it (nor would I)
My uneducated guess is the user has > momentum when sliding into the arrow, as opposed to hitting the wall all at once. So, the arrow receives more chances to send momentum ticks in the other direction.
(hitting the wall cancels out all of that momentum instantly, hitting the arrow is more gradual)

If you jump you spend less time in the arrow. If you run into the arrow you spend more time in the arrow. Its just the amount of time you are in the arrow that effects how far you go
