switch portals might get a little weird, and you can just put purple switches around those portals, but DEFINITELY the hazards. That would be so cool

switch portals that lead to hazards almost is the same as timed hazards. It's the whole point of suggesting them; even if they can't do timed/switch hazards, they can at least do timed/switch portals for the same technical effect (or close enough).

im not sure how i'd make a switch (/timed) portal that is completely ignored (you go through with momentum and everything) if the switch is off

I don't know, I just feel like having different colored portals would be weird.
At least with timed hazards they would be a new block, but switch portals would likely be a recolor which would be weird imo.
I feel like it's easier to make switch portals out of the blocks we have than it would be to make switch spikes
