Are bots people?

People like Gregbot, FailLog, and Different55 are treated as second class just for being bots, but I think they should be treated equally. Who else believes that bots are people too?

i have had numerous conversations with gregbot, one being:

18:03 < gkaby> hi gregbot how are u?
18:04 <&GregBot> gud

faillog and different55 are not actually bots though

So a person is defined as "a human being regarded as an individual." If we use that definition then no, but then how can I be so sure anyone on the internet is a person? What if the universe is just a simulation on some supernatural being's computer? Then no one is a person.
