[Help] Connecting to a freenode irc channel

I'm trying to connect to a freenode channel and read the messages along with names and permissions. I haven't had any luck so far so I came here.

Why don't you just google your question? StackOverFlow - should - have something about this

I have googled it, but when I came across some things they seemed to fail and I couldn't figure out the problem. Also my IDE is bugging out so it's kind of hard to test a lot of code, but that's my problem.

Also, thanks Koya, I'll see if that'll work. If it doesn't then I will be doing a lot more digging for working sources.

You need to understand the IRC protocol, to make a bot that connects to freenode.
