In its simplest form, Mafia consists of two sides: the Mafia, and the Town. The Mafia's goal is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is to kill the Mafia.
At the beginning of the game, the Moderator will secretly send everyone their role. The Mafia will know each other, while everyone else will only know their own role.
The game has two phases, the first of which is Day. During Day, the Town must choose someone to Lynch; they are trying to eliminate the Mafia, but the Mafia can lead them astray by casting suspicion elsewhere. Generally, players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town); when a player gets a majority of the votes, they are lynched. Their role is revealed by the Moderator, and it becomes Night.
During the Night, the thread is locked and no one can talk publicly. The Mafia, however, can speak to each other privately to plot strategy and decide who to murder before the next Day begins. In this way, they can silence members of the Town who are threats to them. At the end of the Night, the murder is carried out and another Day begins. In effect, the Town gets to kill someone, and then the Mafia gets to kill someone.
The game alternates between Day and Night until either the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else (or nothing can prevent the same).

I highly recommend newbies to look at the last two mafia games in order to get familiar with mafia.

Game Rules:

1. Participate in the game. Being inactive after receiving a warning causes you to get kicked or replaced.

2. Do not talk about the game with anyone outside this thread or the mafia night chat. Everything must be readable and unhidden.

3. Do not work against your team by game throwing.

4. All votes must be bolded to be counted. They must be placed at the start of a new line and must begin with "!".

5. If you quote someone, do not change their original message.

6. You may not quote, copy paste, or screenshot any PM messages from the moderator.

7. The day is over as soon as a vote majority is reached. Do not post after majority is reached.

8. Forum rules apply, however double-posting is allowed. You may not edit or delete your messages.

You must folllow the rules or may face a modkill. In the case you get banned on the forums, I reserve the right to replace you. Please keep in mind the spirit in which these were written, and know that looking for loopholes is a waste of time.

Prods:

During a day, I expect everyone to post here at least once every 24 hours. Players will be prodded after 24 hours of inactivity. Getting prodded causes you to get a * next to your name on the userlist. If you still don't post anything for over 48 hours, you will be replaced. PM messages and mafia chat do not count as activity. If your posts are found to not actually try to include content to further the game, they will not count towards resetting the prod timer.

Prods will be given to players on 08:00 PM UTC of every physical day, if
a) it's day in the game,
b) the day doesnt end in the next 24 hours,
c) and the player hasn't posted content since the last time prods were sent.

Guys pls. Why would we lynch day 1? We know nothings except that rhaz is needlessly aggressive. Saying zoey is mafia based on her last games is silly. It's called the gamblers fallacy. Assuming something is more likely to happen based on past experiences when really it's independent. (This is assuming that roles are picked randomly)

To be honest I'd be more apt to go for rhaz. Very pushy.

Not necessarily, because I'd be lynching him based on aggressive behavior THIS game. Regardless, I'm not saying we should definitely lynch him, just that he makes more sense than zoey.

aaaaaaaand we're back.

So here's what I'm thinking.

As far as I know (??) Rhaz is the only mafia veteran here. I've played a lot but its been mainly for fun. He doesn't seem to be having fun lol

There's also no complete nubs here. Everyone is pretty smart, right? So why would someone like Onjit, who's a pretty smart cookie, obviously try to jam up discussion? I mean it seems like a pretty dumb mistake for a mafia to make, one that would clearly make him look suspicious. I'm not getting scum reading off of him (YET) just because he wasn't agreeing with rhaz.

Hostage was OBVIOUSLY just making a joke. I dont see where you guys are getting the "taken to far" part. If anything, ya'll took it too far.

And now we come to Rhaz. He's being very, very aggressive, and keeps saying that mafia are usually passive. Well, knowing that none of us are experts, couldn't he just be saying that to cover up for him coming on too strong originally? My gut is going with him. I kinda feel like he came on super strong and then leaned into the role once he realized he'd goofed.

Also, zoey saying the thing about "he's always like this" or whatever makes makes me think that she's somehow connected?

As for the rest of you, i dunno tbh. Maybe we lynch rhaz and if its not him we can go for calicara lol

Also, like I said, mafia is ALL about lying. So defending yourself by saying "you have a code" or whatever is ****.

Maybe I'm giving you too much credit, but it just seems like an experienced player would try to defy expectations by being super involved in the town.

Either that, or you're just being annoying.

good god rhaz, this isn't a discussion on morality. Its a game where one side HAS to lie to win. Its not immoral, its smart playing.

If you're going to school to be a teacher you may want to work on not attacking the intellect of someone when trying to explain something, and ya know, actually explain it.

Let me explain MY thoughts.

I was just asking what your reasoning for revealing yourself was? I was just thinking that if you reveal that you're vigilante, the mafia is obviously going to target you. Yeah, sure, you may squeeze off a shot and get one of them (if you're lucky), but you'll still die.

However, you COULD have just tried to clear yourself through other measures (like, idk, maybe not yelling at everyone) and NOT revealed that you are one of the most powerful town roles.

That's all assuming you're town. If you are mafia you could be putting on this ridiculous "I would NEVER lie in a **** game of mafia" **** to try to trick people.

Then you claim vigilante to try to shock people into unvoting for you. Does this not make sense?
