Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Xamarin

Hey, this isn't directly related to EE... move it if this does not fit but it is programming. I am starting to learn how to use Xamarin, i was wondering if anyone has already learned how to make IOS apps with Xamarin or if there is another SDK that is better than Xamarin that i should learn. Right now i am going to learn it for my senior project at school and hopefully to just become a better programmer in general.

Any help on the subject means a lot. Thank you.

Re: Xamarin

Hey, good to know someone is going down this road

I hit that up two years ago. I had no idea. Further, I think an actual build to iOS apps requires the developer participation thing ($99/year?)

If you can prove me wrong, please do.
Seriously
And share
I'll take a free app any day

SEriously though, I hate that app store. It's such a pain in the **** to roll things out

Re: Xamarin

I wish you plenty of patience, as the regular route with writing iOS apps on with Xamarin means working either on or linked to a mac, which provides the build certificates and signing for the app. You could alternatively install an OSX VM and fiddle around, but then you're essentially using a mac.

If you already use a mac, I wish you continued patience. ^-^

Why would i need to be linked to a mac? Isn't Xamarin suppose to eliminate that median all together?

Re: Xamarin

Xamarin plugs into XCode, I think.

That, or I was doing everything terribly wrong.

Apple's very protective of their software, and hate compatibility across platforms, or indeed any kind of support for integration with other OS's.

There's no official way to make an iOS app with Windows; Xamarin for VS lets you write the code and design the app, but not actually build the final .ipa to upload to the app store or transfer to an iOverpriced via itunes.

If you know C++ you could try https://www.madewithmarmalade.com/blog/ … evelop-ios.

Re: Xamarin

Recently their app store got overnight malware because of apps which aren't made with their official SDK. So I think they will be more restrictive about Xamarin and others...

Re: Xamarin

Quick, jaba!

make the claim that the app you're making is an EE energy spender!
then claim we discouraged you from making it
