Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Clearing Browsing data

I cleared browsing data, after reading all the forum sections that I read, and it said there were new posts, I clicked new post and it was the same as before... Why?

Re: Clearing Browsing data

Because read posts are stored in cookies. I attempted to change this so that unread posts were stored in the database a while ago but it did not work out.

Re: Clearing Browsing data

I bet there's some magical tweak
Are we talking adding a plugin
Or breaking out the heavy-duty programmer's glasses out and coding up some pro database schema to record read posts?
... taht doesn't seem like enough information to store all the unread posts...

Re: Clearing Browsing data

seeing as the mod didn't work out, it'd be the third. Although I might be able to study the mod and find out where it went wrong, it'd still be a heavy dose of cod.

Re: Clearing Browsing data

I don't frequently switch between computers, private browse, or clear my cache/cookies. Definitely would take a great deal of persuasion from the 'audience' to build something that extensive...

Maybe I'm the minority. Do you folks have ten computers to juggle EE forum posts with?!

No, but most people have a phone and a computer. And it isn't the first time that this idea has come up, either. It might be worth giving it another try.
