Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Campaign suggestion guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING

Campaign submission guidelines

If you would like to submit a campaign, you must follow these guidelines.

Tiers
Campaigns have a minimum of 3 tiers. In other words, you cannot submit single maps.

Themes
Campaigns have certain themes, as can be seen ingame right now. The way you connect the maps' themes is up to you.

Difficulty
One requirement is that the maps in a campaign are of similar difficulty so it can be completed by players of a certain level. A campaign going from basic to extreme is therefore unacceptable. The campaign must go from easiest to most difficult within the appropriate difficulty range. Of course this is a matter of opinion to a certain degree.

Diversity
To create diversity in level styles and to give everyone a chance, it is highly preferred to have one map per creator or crew within a campaign. After a while using the same ones may become inevitable.

Submitting a campaign must be done by creating a new topic using the format of this example:

Title:
Endurance

Description:
Clear out your schedule, stock up on food and water, these worlds will take a while to beat!

Difficulty:
Hard

Re: Campaign suggestion guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING

Is there any required/preferred world size for submissions? Or does it all depend on quality?

Re: Campaign suggestion guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING

I think we don't need a whole forums for that, what about sending suggestions in Level Creation or Rooms?

Anyway, I'd like to ask some questions:
- How much tiers I'm up to add in a campaign?
- Can I add some story like a treasure hunt?
- Does the world has to be really well made?

This is a false statement.

God no.

Edit: Nevermind, yeah, we could use a thread in the Rooms subforum.

I think this is fine, each campaign could get it's own discussion, so future campaigns will be refined until they are good enough to be added.

Does the mini-map art have to be nice?
There are some worlds out there that are focused on in-game art, rather than mini-map art.
The problem is it won't be as eye-catching/appealing to other players.

Depends on if the thumbnail has to be the minimap, or can be another image.

Quality of course. For balance I suppose it helps to have similar sizes.

Nickolai wrote:

As long as it's reasonable. Having 10 small worlds is fine, but having 10 huge ones would be out of wack of course.

- See above
- Not sure what you mean by adding a story.
- Quality helps yes, but not everything has to be top notch stuff (some things we have now aren't the prettiest but they're still fun)

Read what I said about themes.

Read about the diversity. It's not forbidden or anything, but diversity is generally a good thing.

I think creature meant having signs around the map that tell a story specific to that world and its theme. So like, if the world was some sort of water map, then there might be signs saying what the "people" in the world are thinking or you might be able to "talk" to them through the use of signs. Or if there's like, an octopus sort of creature in the minimap art, then there could be a mini based around that area and once you complete it it says you defeated the kraken or something like that. So is that sort of thing allowed?

Re: Campaign suggestion guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING

Some thoughts on campaigns. (Not meant as a complaint.)

Half-Life 1, 2, and Episode 1 and 2, together, take about 47 hours to finish (15 + 19 + 5 + 8). Let's say on Saturdays and Sundays I game 6.75 hours and during weekdays 2 hours. Then all those Half-Life games together take me just two weeks to finish. I'm one of the people who doesn't really care if/when Half-Life 3 arrives, because, while it might be great fun, I'll probably finish it in less than a week. There's not a lot of replay value either, in my opinion. It took about 6 years for Half-Life 2 to arrive, and it has been about 8 years since Episode 2. It's just not that appealing to me, a week of fun every half-decade.

EE campaigns feel similar to me. I wait one or more months for half an evening of entertainment.

Of course there's a lot more to EE than its campaigns, I obviously understand that. But with a campaign at least you get a proper challenge. Random levels from the lobby may not be finished. Even if they are finished, they may not be finishable. And even if they are finished and finishable, winning gets you a temporarily crown that frequently nobody else will even see. EE is a social game, a lot of players have public profiles. It's fun to receive recognition after finishing a campaign, badges can enhance motivation and performance, self-efficacy. Campaigns perhaps provide more concrete challenges.

Just pick 200 levels and put them in an "Endless" campaign or something. That should keep me busy for a month, maybe. I mean, I played Don't Starve and its Together variant for over 600 hours (383 + 240). Keeps me entertained for hours and hours in a row. With EE, I check the Rooms forum board, play whatever is new and add the daily energy. That's basically it, I almost never play EE anymore. Going from campaign to campaign, every now and then that's half an evening. I just don't see myself clicking random levels in the Lobby often. Hm. Maybe Steam turned me into an achievement hunter. Perhaps EE itself made non-campaign levels less special by adding those badges.

But, yeah, I wouldn't mind a "2010" campaign with 100 levels that were created in 2010. They don't even need to be great, okay-ish is good enough. I'll just start with level 1 and I'm pretty sure I'll finish level 100. Bring it on. Better than staring at the Lobby, clicking a random level, finding some unfinished hookjump fest, leaving, more staring...

I have permanently left the game and forum.
EE is an entertaining game and I enjoyed playing it...
...but it's time for me to move on.

Re: Campaign suggestion guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING

How many of the campaigns that have been suggested in the various threads of this Campaign Suggestions board have actually been added to the game? This is not meant as an accusation. I'm sincerely curious if the campaigns that are currently in the game were put together by the staff or were suggested here. Alphabetically there are now 8 campaigns:

Adventure League
Ancient Ruins
Colorful
Endurance
Fractured Fingers
Puzzle Pack 1
Tunnel Rats
Tutorials

How many of those came from here, either partially or entirely?

I'm also curious if the staff can give us feedback to: are we suggesting enough campaigns or do you want more suggestions?
