Anti-aliasing into background colour

For those who don't know what anti-aliasing is, here's a quick explanation:

I'm posting here for 2 things.

Firstly, I need help. Here's a picture of a portion of my level.

It's kind of rough around the edges, simply cause I can't find blocks to blend from red to the grey background behind. Is this simply because EE has no blocks for that or is there another technique around this? This brings me to the second part of my post.

What are each of your techniques for anti-aliasing? How do you go around doing it? Where do you base your techniques off from? I'm kind of interested in seeing if each of you use different ways of anti-aliasing.

Maybe replicate what you want into GIMP or Photoshop and see which (antialiased) pixels match a block
It looks like pinks or faded reds would work best here
