i have a different version of this; with my version you can infect players with no protection like a normal zombie but you cannot be cured 
I can get to your "zombie doctor" state by touching protection powerup again; this cures the player but zombie effect death timer still goes on.
how to get:
1. have a friend stand beside a protection powerup and become a zombie
2. run through the friend first and the powerup second.
3. because of delay you will get protection first and will become zombie next; zombie is not cured.
