Private messages are turned off for you. Go to Profile>Privacy>PMstuff to turn them back on.

I thought it was a feature, but I thought I would have it turned off by default or something, but I didn't really check. I'm talking about PMs btw, not subscriptions.

oic. Thanks for clearing that up. Tbh I'm not sure why those settings are in Privacy but on the other hand I'm not sure where they'd go. There's not really a general "Settings" tab in profiles.
